Just hit my inbox, with this segment:

Public Safety
On January 16, Governor Quinn participated in a conference call with the White House, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder and governors from across the nation regarding President Barack Obama’s public safety plan. At the conclusion of the call, Governor Quinn issued a statement of support for the President’s proposals to reduce gun violence. This declaration of support is in conjunction with Governor Quinn’s advocacy for banning assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition magazines in Illinois. Though gun violence cannot be completely eliminated, implementation of these common sense measures will save lives and help prevent violent massacres.

Not entirely unanticipated, but it shows for certain that we'll be facing renewed pressure for an assault weapons ban in Illinois during the coming general assembly.

Make sure to let everyone you know that Quinn is planning another early release program for convicted felons. It is supported by his following of liberal democrats; Simon, Madigan, et al. This needs to cost them future election chances.

You got a link to a source?

Maybe they're just freeing up room in prison for gun owners. :(

"Maybe they're just freeing up room in prison for gun owners." Great ~ we're already there and he no longer bothers to pay us money now owed under contract for over 2.5 years; two birds with one stone!

Agreed, that is why I don't subscribe to their rag. I read the copies left at work by others who pay for the garbage in print.

The last PJ star I bought was at the gas station, it was the day after the mayor started the "Don't Shoot" campaign up there.

I used that paper with the "DON'T SHOOT!" headline as a floor mat in front of my passenger seat for 9 months. On the few occasions I had passengers, people would get in, reach down to move it, and I'd say "oh no, that's there for a reason. Please feel free to step on it."

Actually the don't shoot campaign is more about taking down gang bangers that use guns in the commission of a crime. They get an automatic felony charge without the chance of pleading down. It seems to be working to a fair degree. I believe Mayor Ardis is pro-gun as he actually talked about making Peoria a test pilot for concealed carry in Illinois a few years back. The problem is the criminals get sent to prison but Quinn just lets them out.

Yes, he's pro gun (to a degree), and has offered to make Peoria a test case for concealed carry before.

But the Don't Shoot campaign has had some very negative connotations for normal gun owners, and has more recently been combined with those damn buy back campaigns I hate so much.
