So I blew it. I cleaned my resizing die, and then I installed the wrong button. Needless to say, I now have a bunch of brass that is primed and needs to be resized.

I have never attempted to resize brass with an unfired primer, but I am guessing it is possible. Should I pull the depriming pin? Should I leave the depriming pin in place? Should I chuck the brass?

Thoughts? Options?

Just pull the decapping pin and have at it, no reason to chuck the brass.

Rifle or pistol?

For pistol just remove the depriming assembly, you just need the carbide ring.

For bottleneck rifle, pop the pin out or back the depriming assembly out so it doesn't deprime. Be careful how far you back it out because it can't be too close to the neck of the die or everything will jam up. With a traditional rifle die, it first makes the neck too small and then brings it back to the proper size as the brass comes out of the die.

Depends on the brass. I've rescued some severe stepped on necks back to new. Just need to work it slow. Just watch you don't crack a neck or shoulder when firing, I put mine in a different box so I know to load them light.

I guess I don;t quite understand what you have, and also like someone else asked - what caliber brass and how many?

If it were 20 or 40 pieces of rifle brass, I would just decap the brass. Use a dedicated decapper, or adjust the pin far enough in so no resizzing takes place. Turn the shellholder so the open side (where you slide each piece of brass into the shellholder) faces away from you. Clean your primer catch tray or tube. Gently decap each one. Keep your face back away from the press, just in case one pops (I never had one pop). Now you have some deprimed cases you can resize, reprime, and go forward with.

Just remove the decapping pin.

It's primed but needs to be sized. I guess if your sizing die will allow removal of the decaping pin but leave the sizing mandrel in place, that would work.
