My Ruger Security Six "issue" seems to be resolved

Those who saw this thread a couple weeks ago may be interested:

I sent the Security Six back to Ruger for a repair and check out. Got it back today and they adjusted the crane, replaced the ejector rod and did a safety function check. Test firing complete.

I checked the B/C gap and it' measures .004" at full lock up. So far I'm pleased. I should hit the range next week with it and a new (to me) S&W Model 15-3 2" I'm waiting on.

I was generally really happy with Ruger with one exception (later).

The didn't charge for parts or repair. They didn't charge me to ship back to me. The completed all work in less than 7 days.

Two problems which I suspect they'll resolve:

They banged up my brand new NOS Ruger Target grips.

And they didn't return the black Plano case I sent the gun to them in.

I spoke to customer service and he asked I send him the pics of the grips and he would get it resolved for me. I should hear back from him by tomorrow.

I feel confident they will follow through. So far, very pleased with them and the gun.

I feel sure they'll take care of you. A buddy of mine (even though he's a Glock fanboy) bought a used Ruger SR9 recently. He says he's going to shoot 500 rounds of +p 9mm through it in one range trip, to find out if it's a POS, or not.
Funny, he's never done that with his Glock.
I have no doubt his SR9 will hold up just fine.
I'm glad you got your Six fixed. I've always liked the Six series. Great revolvers.

Thanks, Jaymo. Based on experience so far I'm confident in them. I really like this gun and it's in super great shape. Was almost new when I got it last month.

Now that you mention it I have a vauge memory of a thread years ago about NOT sending in cases for guns for service. I think it was Ruger. It seems to be a big problem to keep the cases with the guns or even knowing there is a case for a gun when it comes time to ship. As a result Ruger, and other companies, ask that you send in standard shipping boxes, not cases you want back.

I read your previous thread and have a good idea as to what happened.

The ejector pin loosened and bound the cylinder. Owner solved this by forcibly opening the cylinder, either by beating the cylinder against the bench or with a mallet. After learning the gun was damaged, it was sold, and an unsuspecting buyer was found.

Fortunately for you, Ruger repaired the gun at no cost. You now have an almost new gun, and should have some new grips on the way. Thank the people who advised you to return the gun to Ruger. With their collective wisdom, you were smarter than the previous owner. Now go and shoot your new trophy.

I don't know about Ruger, but most gun companies specifically say that when returning guns for repair to NOT send a case or container you can't afford to lose, and to remove custom stocks, grips, magazines, etc. Unless you make special arrangements, they won't be responsible for anything that is not theirs.

I bought a GP-100 6" blued last Fall. In the box, all paper work, fired case+all.

When I got with the seller, noted a VERY ROUGH,WIDE cyl turn ring. About 1/16" wide+ like a hacksaw blade!! The private seller did cut me a deal because of that. The rest of the GP looked like a safe queen!!

I contacted Ruger the first week of Jan.,they e-mailed me a shipping label+ off it went.

Got it back last week--Like BRAND NEW!!

They even did some extra (Red ramp+White outline), all at NO CHARGE!!

Now this story probably would not justify much merit-Except, from the envelope the fired case was in......

Dated AUGUST 2002...The revolver is 11 YEARS OLD!!!

For ME + 100 To Ruger...Bill:):)
