Does the square ratchet inside the
Auto index clamp go in with the
raised side up or down? Thanks

I'm a little confused by the question but let me try to answer it anyway :)

the indexing rod has one end with a square nut on the end and another end that's twisted. the twisted end goes at the bottom, square end goes into the turret. It may take some twisting of the turret to get it to settle into position, and I've found raising the cylinder (lowering handle) often helps with this (it disengages the cylinder from the twisted part and enables it to turn).

Hope this helps.

He is talking about the square plastic ratchet at the bottom, not the metal square at the top.

OP I have installed them both ways, never noticed a difference.

I'm pretty sure it goes with the wide part on top.
