Hello all,
I am a new member so please forgive me if I am posting in the wrong place.
I recently purchased a Model 1885 single shot shotgun from a friend, it in pretty good condition but I don't know anything about it. It does have writing on the barrel.
"The W.H. Davenport Firearms Co. Norwich Conn. USA Patened Oct 2 1884 - Aug 11 1886 MODEL 1885.
This gun is in working order, the walnut looks real good and everything functions on it but there is some pitting inside the barrel. I would like to know if it fires but I don't know if it can handle modern day shells.
Would anyone know what's its worth? What kind of ammo would it take? Would it be wise to even try to shoot?
Thanks in advance!
