NRA extra benefits / insurance?

Hello all!

Recently got my letter with membership card, decals, and information on all of the extra insurance benefits that the NRA offers (Got my hat and magazine subscription at Christmas when my fiancee bought me the membership).

I'm trying to weed out whether the additional benefits are fluff or really useful. I'm not saying that I think this stuff is a "Scam" per se, but is it like all of the other insurance, extended warranty, and credit card offers that everyone just dumps in the recycling or is this something people are signing up for? I've tried to read around including on THR about it, but haven't found a large percentage of people saying it's either great and useful or on the other hand, useless.

Thanks for any of your thoughts!

For the extra amounts for insuring firearms, you must call. Only have to do it once, then they up to 2500 dollars if I'm thinking correctly.

The firearms insurance is a very nice perk.

Membership entitles you to purchase additional firearms insurance coverage if you need it. With the price of firearms being what they are, if you have even just a few quality handguns or rifles, the "free" insurance you get isn't enough. But the rates for additional insurance seem reasonable. You have to keep your NRA membership active, though.

The firearms insurance is the only extra "benefit" I've used.

You can go on the NRA web for more benefits. There is one company that will do an I scheduled gun policy, which is excellent and much cheaper than a rider on the home owners policy.

I use COllectibles Insurance for my firearms, and it was somewhat cheaper than the quote from the NRA insurer. I've been getting their mailings for many years, and as far as I can see it's not usually the best deal.

If you read the fine print, coverage is not available to annual members if I recall correctly.

I actually utilize a Term Life Insurance policy that was offerred through NRA. After shopping around for all sources, the rates per $100k were significantly less than I could obtain elsewhere.

I think that on one occassion over the years I have used the "NRA Discount" for eye glasses or rental car, something like that.

I have a term life policy through the NRA "endorsed" programs and it was a quite a bit cheaper than our local insurance agent charged.

I entered my stats, and the broker matched me up with the company offering the best deal for your needs.
