Johnny Dollar February 2, 2013, 11:53 PM Sorry. No.
fgr39 February 2, 2013, 11:54 PM looked it up after I posted, never would have guessed that
pacerdude February 2, 2013, 11:54 PM Molson ?
Johnny Dollar February 2, 2013, 11:55 PM Nope. :)
montgomery381 February 2, 2013, 11:58 PM I am going to guess that, by some weird turn of fate, it was Budweiser.
pacerdude February 3, 2013, 12:00 AM Wow I too would not have ever guessed it.
Johnny Dollar February 3, 2013, 12:02 AM it was Budweiser.
NO,Gotta be imported.
Johnny Dollar February 3, 2013, 12:04 AM Some one is getting it soon. Looking through my vault!
JohnKSa February 3, 2013, 12:05 AM Heineken? Wild Guess...
I was going to guess Grolsch but I couldn't spell it.
Johnny Dollar February 3, 2013, 12:06 AM Heineken? Wild Guess...
The Winner! That was fun! John ,list your top 5,please!
JohnKSa February 3, 2013, 12:10 AM I didn't really expect to win or I wouldn't have guessed.
I have plenty of ammo at the moment--take it to the range and think of me while you're shooting it. :D
Johnny Dollar February 3, 2013, 12:13 AM No, I insist. You won fair! I have SO MUCH AMMO! Tell me. Be cool now! :D
JohnKSa February 3, 2013, 12:22 AM How about this?
Here's another trivia question to keep the game going. I'll PM Mr. Dollar with the answer.
When the designer of the CZ-75 began working on the pistol, he initially designed a relatively compact pistol with a single column magazine. The powers that be told him it needed to be a high-capacity deisgn so he went back to the drawing board.
What unusual feature (at least unusual for pistols) did he initially try to incorporate into his design to maximize capacity?
He was finally forced to abandon the feature due to function issues after the initial 2 prototypes.
wankerjake February 3, 2013, 12:23 AM Guiness?
Ah, heineken. My next guess :(
spanishjames February 3, 2013, 12:24 AM Heineken!
spanishjames February 3, 2013, 12:26 AM Regarding the CZ 75. A belt system.
Dryft February 3, 2013, 12:28 AM Extended magazines?
This is a great game! We should do this more often.
wankerjake February 3, 2013, 12:30 AM Double stack?
JohnKSa February 3, 2013, 12:30 AM Nope and Nope.
To my knowledge, there is only one conventional pistol which successfully employs this feature.
sawdeanz February 3, 2013, 12:34 AM Hmm, I don't know about the cz one, maybe a tubular magazine (because you said it was unusual for pistols.
Also I wish I was here sooner, I knew the beer one from a modern marvels episode I think
ID-shooting February 3, 2013, 12:35 AM Stripper clip fed internal magazine?
spanishjames February 3, 2013, 12:36 AM Strip-fed.
JohnKSa February 3, 2013, 12:38 AM Nope.
Next hint.
The conventional pistol that successfully uses this feature is a relatively new Russian design.
spanishjames February 3, 2013, 12:45 AM I'm drawing a blank. A drum magazine.
Johnny Dollar February 3, 2013, 12:45 AM I bow to John's seniority! :D
meanmrmustard February 3, 2013, 12:46 AM Direct impingement?
Locking block?
mjsdwash February 3, 2013, 12:47 AM im gonna guess reverse blowback?
wankerjake February 3, 2013, 12:48 AM Magic?:D
sawdeanz February 3, 2013, 12:49 AM Caseless ammunition?
TheGloriousTachikoma February 3, 2013, 12:50 AM why not...triple stack magazine?
spanishjames February 3, 2013, 12:51 AM A removable magazine.
sawdeanz February 3, 2013, 12:54 AM One more guess, double barrel? Like that ridiculous double 1911 that came out last year, wasn't sure that was russian but I don't remember
meanmrmustard February 3, 2013, 12:55 AM Burst fire?
JohnKSa February 3, 2013, 12:55 AM The Russian pistol (The Viking 446) that uses the feature is shown in this video, as is the feature itself, if you pay close attention.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vmEQrOPA2F4
sawdeanz February 3, 2013, 12:56 AM I lied I thought of something else, I bet it is that thing where they load 2 bullets in one shell, I don't know what it is called, duplex ammo or something
spanishjames February 3, 2013, 12:59 AM Select fire. Fully automatic.
wankerjake February 3, 2013, 01:00 AM I tmentioned a box style mag... but it looks like some sort of double stack... I will finish the video;)
FIVETWOSEVEN February 3, 2013, 01:00 AM Dual feed magazines. :)
meanmrmustard February 3, 2013, 01:00 AM Top eject?
JohnKSa February 3, 2013, 01:00 AM Getting very warm...
TheGloriousTachikoma February 3, 2013, 01:01 AM staggered-feed magazine. It's like an Uzi magazine, full-width to the top of the stack
meanmrmustard February 3, 2013, 01:02 AM Getting very warm...
What is!!!
JohnKSa February 3, 2013, 01:02 AM Dual feed magazines.Winnah!!!
Here's the important part of the video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vmEQrOPA2F4&feature=player_detailpage#t=118s
Notice how he's loading the magazine.
The rounds are pushed straight down into the mag instead of being slid in from the front.
staggered-feed magazine. It's like an Uzi magazine, full-width to the top of the stackAlso correct, but FIVETWOSEVEN got in ahead of you.
FIVETWOSEVEN February 3, 2013, 01:03 AM It's nice to find out more history on the gun I have holstered. :)
JohnKSa February 3, 2013, 01:07 AM Koucky, after being informed by the Ministry of Foreign Trade that the gun would have a high-capacity magazine initially wanted the gun to be a double-feed magazine.
That improves capacity since the magazine can be a double-column all the way to the top instead of channelling down to a single column at the top. It also makes the magazines easier to load.
The first prototype was built that way, and the second prototype started out as a double-feed design but was eventually converted to a single-feed design.
Some subguns use this feature, but, to my knowledge, the Russian 446 is the only successful design in a conventional pistol that uses double-feed magazines.
spanishjames February 3, 2013, 01:14 AM Congratulations FIVETWOSEVEN.
wankerjake February 3, 2013, 01:23 AM I like trivia, although I suck at it. If I'm allowed, I'll throw out a prize for the late night crowd. 50 pieces of 45 Colt brass for the first person that can tell me, WITHOUT looking it up (honor system guys):
In the song Amos Moses by Jerry Reed, what is Amos's preferred method of dispatching poached alligators? Anyone who knows this wants 45 colt brass*, is my theory;)
*or 357, or 44 mag brass

Not that I need any, but if I remember, he hit them in the head.
East bound and down, baby.
wankerjake February 3, 2013, 01:28 AM Yes, yes, with a stump. I'll PM ya.
meanmrmustard February 3, 2013, 01:30 AM Yes, yes, with a stump. I'll PM ya.
No need. Recirculate it, and fire up another question.
I'm redonating!!!
Better yet, let me ask one? You donate my winnings!!!
wankerjake February 3, 2013, 01:35 AM Go ahead!
meanmrmustard February 3, 2013, 01:37 AM Winner of my question gets a hand painted canvas, by me, of their favorite firearm. Not much, but you ain't getting my ammo. Shipping is on me. I'll PM the winner.
What was a common nickname for the spur trigger, single action revolvers made by Hopkins and Allen?
Honor system.
meanmrmustard February 3, 2013, 01:41 AM Go ahead!

You should do another!

Gah, its got something to do with killing yourself by accident... suicide something or other i think?!?!?
wankerjake February 3, 2013, 01:52 AM See post 54.

Ok,
In the movie True Grit, what is the make/model of pistol that Mattie Ross is packing? I think there is disagreement about what she is supposed to have and what is shown in the movie, but what is she supposed to have? Should be easy for a John Wayne fan.
50 pieces 45 Colt, 44mag or 357 mag to whoever know it first.
meanmrmustard February 3, 2013, 02:00 AM Gah, its got something to do with killing yourself by accident... suicide something or other i think?!?!?
Warm as the sun! Need a bit more!

meanmrmustard February 3, 2013, 02:10 AM Dragoon?
wankerjake February 3, 2013, 02:12 AM You're 2/2. Sure I can't talk you into a prize?
meanmrmustard February 3, 2013, 02:13 AM Urg. I know there were SAAs in the movie, and I think a Walker.
meanmrmustard February 3, 2013, 02:14 AM You're 2/2. Sure I can't talk you into a prize?
Did I get it!!! Which one, Walker or Dragoon?
wankerjake February 3, 2013, 02:15 AM My loose understanding, and I certainly don't know my Colts, is that what is pictured is a Walker, but supposedly it's a Colt.
xxjumbojimboxx February 3, 2013, 02:16 AM suicide special!

Which is a Colt Walker, 6 of one and all that. One of the baddest sidearms ever made.
Tell you what, riddle me this: What sidearm is used almost exclusively by Tom Cruise in "Minority Report"?
Edit to Add: if I don't respond immediately, its because I passed out.
meanmrmustard February 3, 2013, 02:19 AM suicide special!
You got it buddy. PM on the way!

I ain't seen it:o
ThusEver2Tyrants February 3, 2013, 02:25 AM In the first movie it was a walker I believe. I know for sure in the new one with jeff bridges it is a dragoon. Cogburn even comments upon seeing it. "What is a little girl doing wjth a pistol like that!"
Another notable difference is wayne carries the mares leg yet bridges used a set of navy sixes he keeps on his saddle
CmdrSlander February 3, 2013, 02:26 AM I ain't seen it:o
Beretta 9000S
meanmrmustard February 3, 2013, 02:27 AM I ain't seen it:o
Ok, you supply the ammo to the winner of my question.
Its a doozy, so you may be keeping that brass!
Edit: it was literally answered before I finished typing. Sorry, dude.
meanmrmustard February 3, 2013, 02:28 AM Beretta 9000S
Dang, thought that woulda stumped someone.
Wanker, pay the man!
CmdrSlander February 3, 2013, 02:28 AM Ahem...
ThusEver2Tyrants February 3, 2013, 02:28 AM As to minority report...aside from the cool looking flip cock energy type shotgun weapons they use....Anderson carries a Beretta 9000s. Dont think ive ever seen one in real life
Darnit...beat me to it. Ok ok ummm
Detective Vincent Hanna's sidearm and rifle in "Heat"
Double points if you know what position he carried the sidearm
meanmrmustard February 3, 2013, 02:29 AM As to minority report...aside from the cool looking flip cock energy type shotgun weapons they use....Anderson carries a Beretta 9000s. Dont think ive ever seen one in real life
You got beat bro.
CmdrSlander February 3, 2013, 02:31 AM You got beat bro.
I used the movie firearms website, give it to him...
Also, shame, shame, shame on me
FIVETWOSEVEN February 3, 2013, 02:32 AM Some subguns use this feature, but, to my knowledge, the Russian 446 is the only successful design in a conventional pistol that uses double-feed magazines.
The FNH FiveseveN uses that type of feed as well.
shotgunjoel February 3, 2013, 02:40 AM The FNH FiveseveN uses that type of feed as well.
As does the vaporware PMR-30.
meanmrmustard February 3, 2013, 02:43 AM I used the movie firearms website, give it to him...

Thanks for the honesty.

Detective Vincent Hanna's sidearm and rifle in "Heat"

Smith 5906 and a Colt 6920
?
Carried at four o'clock.
JohnKSa February 3, 2013, 01:47 PM The FNH FiveseveN uses that type of feed as well.I was (obviously :D) not aware of that.As does the vaporware PMR-30.Didn't know that either...
I wish I knew why Koucky couldn't get his double-feed design working.
FIVETWOSEVEN February 3, 2013, 04:46 PM Detective Vincent Hanna's sidearm and rifle in "Heat"

It was a Colt 1991 Officer model and a FN FNC para with a countdown barrel and M16 flashhider installed. 4 o'clock maybe?
And no I didn't use IMFDB, Heat is just one of my favorite movies.

Ok, if Heat is one of your faves, lets see if you can get this one:
What nickname is given to the trade mark "execution" style that both McCauley and Vincent from "Collatoral" use on their victims?
Both are Mann directs movies, btw.
Al Thompson February 3, 2013, 06:19 PM Mozambique IIRC. :)
meanmrmustard February 3, 2013, 06:24 PM Mozambique IIRC. :)
Mozambique Drill, you guessed it!
FIVETWOSEVEN February 3, 2013, 06:39 PM Bah, you guys got to it before me. Michael Mann is my favorite director because of how well he does the gun stuff.
Despite the Mozambique Drill being his trademark, I don't believe he does it in Public Enemies.
ThusEver2Tyrants February 3, 2013, 09:15 PM Fivetwoseven is correct!!! He carries it in a crossdraw holster. It is noted by micheal mann in the commentary that the rifle made semi auto bc Hanna would he concerned with hitting bystanders.... good job fivetwoseven
FIVETWOSEVEN February 3, 2013, 10:52 PM I had a feeling that he carried crossdraw but couldn't remember.
