Good guess.

Gad, I hope so. I need another AR complete upper but I won't pay more for one than a whole gun cost two months ago. I can wait...

The loose cash out there for first time buyers has started to dry up. I bought right after Sandy Hook and stepped back once the insanity started to grow full fledge. I mean I bought a few items as part of the panic but at relatively pre-panic prices. Once panic prices came in, I stepped out and was happy to have my massive stash of ammo.

A friend of mine bought a S&W MP15 at two grand and now just a week later is trying to sell it for that sum. He hit me up and I laughed at him tying to explain I already had to AR15 style rifles and I would gladly buy it off him for $600. It'd be more than what a gun shop would give him for it in about two months. Heck I can get a S&W MP15 under my NRA Firearm Instructor discount for not much more than $650.

Now the rest of gunnies are going to sit on our wallets and our one plus stash for semi-auto rifles till prices get reasonable again. Let the gun shops out there that took part in the panic eat their participation in the panic.

A black powder focused gun store near me bought two AR15s from a distributor for $2100 per gun. Once I heard the price I lost all interest and the guy told me the market had topped off and that he was likely going to take a loss on the guns and that he was just going to let them sit on the wall till the next panic. Mind you he had a stack of guns that had already sold on gunbroker so the guy was not exactly hurting. It's a good shop in general as they've been really helpful in getting me into blackpowder and C&B pistols but I don't really have any sympathy for their plight.

I've only got $1k set aside for the bubble bursting, I really want it to be $3k by July. I figure by November we'll see a large dump of "used" guns on the market if things keep going the way they are.

Tax returns are coming.

I dunno about whether they're coming back to normal, or not.
$290 for a RRA stripped lower, 9 hours left.
$215 w/ 3 hours left.
$200 for a stag arms stripped lower, 20 hours left

The only ones I'm seeing at the $135 mark with low time to auction end are cheap polymer receivers that were selling for about $40 ea before the bubble... (A friend of mine bought 5 of these in late Nov for $40 ea.)

PRE-Sandy Hook bubble prices on those Polymer receivers;

And they'll be used to pay off the credit cards

Omni Polymer receivers sold at a whopping $50 pre-bubble, that's MSRP! (That's the brand my buddy bought in November at $40 each, QTY5).

Bid up to $199 here.

The bubble is far from over.

You MIGHT be able to luck on to a good deal if someone does something stupid, like misspells an entry. I picked up an H&K SL-8 once on a no reserve auction at $800, because the guy labeled the auction "Heckler & Kok S L 8 No Reserve!". His auction had 5 whopping views when it closed and I picked it up at the starting price.

I see prices will come down by May and June. NO need to panic or you lose money . The Antis are backing down. Their argument is flawed at most. If we keep sticking to the 2 A as its our right and not be infringed. And that it was in placed to stop a tyrannical govt , they surely will back off.

Theres more pressing problems Obama is facing and he doesnt want to rock the boat too much. We have Iran, N Korea and AQ in north Africa taking center stage in this year and beyond. The economy and unemployment are still shaky and has to be nurtured. And their push for gun control is facing a stiff opposition. All in all, they know they are not gonna make any significant headways.

Good summary. There is a high cap/AR bubble. It will deflate if not burst. A lot of high $$ gunbroker buyers today are NR and driven by an impulse.

Every time I've thought I should buy something during this panic, I've stuffed it and written everyone I could think of in Washington instead. The RNC, DNC, NRA, reps, senators, President, Speaker, Harry Reid, Eric seems to be working so far so I'm sticking with it. I did buy a 225 box of Remington 22LR and the last box of 22 Short at wally world a few weeks ago, but that's it and at this point I'm in waiting it out mode.
