6.5 Bullseye should give you about 850 FPS according to the Lyman #49 Manual.

I can't see how that is right. 6.5 grains of Bullseye seems much too high to me. I use 3.5 grains of Bullseye for my .38 loads.

Its the listed starting load for a 125 grain XTP jacketed bullet in Lyman #49.
Shows 864 FPS - 21,000 CUP.

5.4 gr Zip and 7.3 gr of AA#5 works well in my S&W629; Model 19 and my Colt Trooper III. COAL of 1.555"

Load it to 1.560 and use 3.8 to 4.0 Grs of Red Dot, Clays, 700X, Solo 1000, American Select, WST, Competition, Bullseye, etc
Use a light taper crimp. No more than .002 or .003. Light and accurate. If you want more than a light .38, use medium speed powders, and .38 Spl data.
