somerandomguy February 4, 2013, 11:37 AM He is making the case that we shouldn't be able to own assault weapons, therefore he needs to state some reasons for why we shouldn't be able to own these "assault weapons". After all, we don't need to justify our own views, he needs to justify his on why we shouldn't be allowed to own an AR-15 because HE is the one attacking our rights. I'm talking about an actual reason other than "because you don't need it"...because by that logic we'd ban cars, houses, boats, etc simply because we don't need those things either.

Sitting back and claiming the moral high-ground isn't likely to be a winning strategy.
Akita1 February 4, 2013, 11:49 AM .02: it may make more sense for us to educate him that as a guest in our grand republic, we will afford him rights under 1A (even though he's not entitled to such protections), but he must understand that the BOR does not carry a multiple choice option so he is beholden to recognize our rights under 2A. He can criticize all he wants, but until he can vote who cares? People who agree with him are already likely anti RKBA (Rorscach test anyone?).
Jorg February 4, 2013, 11:53 AM we will afford him rights under 1A (even though he's not entitled to such protections)
Here we go again...
USAF_Vet February 4, 2013, 11:55 AM JX, I have to disagree with you. The Bill of Rights is not something that grants those enumerated rights to Americans. The Bill of Rights outline inalienable rights to all people, not just Americans. So while Piers Morgan may be a (Low Road comment), he is still entitled to all the rights enumerated in the Bill of Rights.

I love this topic. Let me make a bag of popcorn quick. ;)
gym February 4, 2013, 12:16 PM It's a ratings thing for CNN, I addressed my comments to them. You guys should write CNN a letter also. They are getting monster ratings with this Bafoon. It's a degradation of the professional journalism they did during things like the Gulf war, when they were a respected news network. Putting this yahoo on every night is a business stratagy, nothing else. They need to be Boycotted, and feel the consequenses of their actions, not pandered to.
Just stop watching and talking about him and they will take him off, like they did to Rick Sanchez, who was a 3d rate Hack news Anchor from here in FL.
When they put him on it showed how desperate they were for contraversy, Having met him and seen what an ass he was, I couldn't believe he was on CNN.

Thanks USAF - point taken; the history major and patriot in me gets a little too specific from time to time (e.g., history is cause and effect, not names & dates).
I wrote my senior thesis on the amendment process and whether or not it has actually allowed the document to stand the test of time; that was 1988 (200th anniversary) and you should have seen the open debate at a "liberal arts" college in VT (that was also a former military base).
My position was that it has worked very effectively (except prohibition of course but it was repealed so effective nonetheless) and the BOR was the most effective because it has never been materially altered. You would have thought there were no liberals in the Northeast at that time as the entire discussion was focused on the BOR, especially support of 2A.

Agreed; I've hit both their site and his FB page with some rather terse but polite rebukes of his ignorant positions.
...shall not be infringed Piers!
swalton1943 February 4, 2013, 12:56 PM sent this to cnn "p.morgan is rude and illogical. this type of discussion would not be allowed in middle school debate classes, and lowers the tone of your programing."

Sorry Jorg - we just can't help ourselves. Glad we're passionate about it.

I'm not sure why anyone would be passionate about erroneously claiming noncitizens don't have 1A protections, but it does seem to be a popular cause.
bodam February 4, 2013, 05:40 PM Saw on a local car forum that Nugent will there today.
zxcvbob February 4, 2013, 05:42 PM Does anybody watch Piers Morgan, except for gun owners wanting to get their outrage on?
rdhood February 4, 2013, 05:47 PM Is it really that hard to not watch this guy? Is it really that hard to not increase his ratings? I haven't seen even one episode. BTW, I don't watch Rachel Maddow, I don't listen to Al Gore, I don't watch Michael Moore movies, and I pay no attention to narcissistic hollywood types. Is it really that hard not to watch?
chris in va February 4, 2013, 05:48 PM It's my understanding he is making a visit to a gun range in Houston. Any word on that?
RCArms.com February 4, 2013, 06:23 PM how can you take the a judge from a talent show turned "newscaster" seriously?
When I see his mug on TV, I either turn the channel or just ignore him as he's a simple minded Brit that somehow believes his opinion matters on this side of the pond.
kwguy February 4, 2013, 06:33 PM I admit it's tough not to watch that idiot. It's like a combination of "knowing your enemy" and "watching a train wreck while it's happening". Just remember these things when you watch him:
He's a clown.
He is uneducated on the entire topic of weaponry and arms.
He lacks the courage to save even his own life by using ANY amount of force.
He does this all for show and ratings.
Remember these things, and MAYBE you won't have an aneurysm when you watch him.
InkEd February 4, 2013, 07:37 PM Tell that poor replacement for Larry King to go make to his own country.
bri February 4, 2013, 08:06 PM Aren't you feeding the fire by simply posting this thread?
If you want him to go away, don't post his name on the interwebs and don't watch his show. Encourage others to do the same.

But if I'm telling people to not talk about Piers Morgan, aren't I then talking about Piers Morgan?:banghead: :neener:
nathan February 4, 2013, 08:25 PM Pierce knows he s gonna make a name speaking out for gun control . He gets high ratings for his job for taking on the toughest issues of the day for he knows he got the full backing of the WHite House . Even if he wont see any change, this is his highest point as a reporter. Thats what motivates him to do these.
bobmcd February 4, 2013, 11:55 PM The first rule of Pierce Morgan is, you do not talk about Pierce Morgan.
The second rule of Pierce Morgan is ...
goon February 5, 2013, 12:47 AM I honestly don't know what the point of allowing him to use a gun range, an AR-15, and a couple legal machine guns to attack gun owners was. Why don't these people tell him to get lost?
JRH6856 February 5, 2013, 09:46 AM Piers Morgan is a real life liberal version of Steven Colbert.
Creature February 5, 2013, 09:50 AM They are getting monster ratings with this Bafoon.
Ummm....Piers Morgan is losing big time in the ratings and is scrambling to stay relevant. Even RuPaul spanked him (no pun intended) in ratings just last week.
Akita1 February 6, 2013, 09:01 AM I'm not sure why anyone would be passionate about erroneously claiming noncitizens don't have 1A protections, but it does seem to be a popular cause.
Jorg - meant 2A and PM attacking it. I already ate crow for my erroneous comment to USAF above - thanks for piling on! ;)
foghornl February 6, 2013, 01:30 PM Could we take up a collection for P. Morgan a ONE-WAY ONLY ticket back to {formerly} Great Britain? ? ? ?
mljdeckard February 6, 2013, 01:36 PM Yes, talking about him at all is to feed his popularity. Realize, this is the best thing that has ever happened to him, his ratings have been poor ever since he took over for Larry King. And even though Uncle Ted verbally smacked him the other day, it's just going round in circles. Ignore him. If he's the best they've got, it's not too great.
