TT Gunleather Slim IWB holster will be here in another couple of weeks. Until then, it gets to hang out with big brother P99. The PPS is one heck of a sub-compact pistol. A real tack driver in my hands compared to my Glock 26, which is now for sale in the B/S/T forums. :D I just installed Meprolights on mine too. It will be my primary concealed carry piece from now on.

I've never owned a "Walther" but have shot several over the years. A couple months back I was putting on a pistol class for LEO's and one of the students brought a "PPQ" & "PPS" and allowed me to put some rounds through both. I must say that I was impressed with their accuracy, ergonomics, and especially their "Triggers". Next to my 1911's they had the best "factory" triggers that I have ever felt. If I weren't already issued M&P's for duty and have already bought a "C" model as a back-up, these would definitely be next on my list.

Shield wins everytime. I hate that grip on the Walthers.
Nice guns but wht did they have to ruin it with all those silly finger grips that get it the way of those of use with larger hands or very small hands. Should have made it with some options!
Here's mine, from a week or so ago when it finally arrived....

Congrats, I get mine Friday.

...and I agree. Well before I'd considered a slim 9, the Walther PPS wasn't even piquing my interest. They look cool, but I'm not a fan of the bore axis, the mag release on this type of gun, and the trigger. Nothing like a PPQ, but hey, what is these days.

I held the Shield, had trouble letting go. I'm excited for Friday.

Serious question. Is the bore axis on the Shield even appreciably lower, or lower at all? I've not handled them side by side. Nor have a seen a picture that would clearly show it, nor am I aware of measurements that I'm confident is using as an apples to apples comparison. In handling them individually I didn't perceive the bore axis to be notably higher on the PPS and bore axis and a high grip is one of the things I'm real big on. Its one of the reasons (more the effect of it really) that I carry a steyr over some of the other guns I have. Incidentally the Steyr M series had the same designer, Bubbits, as the PPS. All of his guns I'm familiar with have low bore axis. Although the PPS is somewhat higher that the steyr and Caracal which have extremely lower bore axis.

If someone has pictures or measurements comparing the PPS to Shield I'd be interested in seeing them. I'm not sure a difference in bore axis taken alone will be enough for most folks to choose between them, as I think there are bigger differences that are more like to fall in line or rub up against peoples preferences. That said it would still be of interest to me.

^^^While the PPS has a lower overall height, it sits higher in my hand. There's a .200" difference between them, so maybe its just me. If no one chimes in, I'll get measurements on my Shield tomorrow, and we can compare to your Walther.

Also, the Shield has a bit longer sight radius.

I'm not a fan of the paddle mag release. I could train to make it a muscle memory, but I'd just as soon use the "regular" button release. I'm right handed, so ambi controls aren't a must for me.

I'll also admit, for this style of pistol, I won't be adding a light or laser. So, even with the 1913, the Walthers price tag turned me off immediately. Especially after I compared their triggers.
