Anybody interested in a Dillon Precisions backorder tracking thread?

Back Orders as of 1-25 were listed as 6-8 weeks for presses, parts, dies, etc.

I ordered a 650XL with case feeder, strong mount, aluminum roller handle, 9MM dies, etc. on Jan 31st. from Brianenos.com (I think he drop ships from Dillon directly)

Today (2-4-13) I received a (very) partial shipment of just the 9MM dies.

Anybody else who has stuff on order from Dillon, if you want to post what you ordered, when you ordered it, and update as stuff trickles in, might give us something to do while we wait.

I ordered a 550b and 223 cal conversion kit on 1/21/13 from Brian Enos and still havent heard a word. When I ordered he replied in an email that said they were on a 3-5 week shipping delay, now the Dillon website says 6-8. Patience is a virtue, but I dont have any AHHA

I just ordered some parts from them yesterday(.223 conversion for my 650 and a casefeeder plate). I know it will be weeks, but it isn't time sensitive for me and I had the funding on hand.

I will update if it isn't so long I forget about this thread. :p

I ordered a complete XL650 as it should be with case feeder and setup for 223 on Dec. 31 from Enos. Dillon's site said 3-5 day back order when my order was placed.

I also ordered direct from Dillon a super swage 600 on 1/29.

Nothing has arrived yet. Hopefully it's not too much longer now.

The local Scheels had plenty of 550s and 650s for sale as of two weeks ago, the last time I was there. Also primers, powder, etc. What they were out of was ammo. The WALL OF AMMO was GONE! Found out a dealer at the local gun show went in there and bought it ALL, at full retail, and took it to the show and sold it at a profit! God save the republic because it looks like the stupid are breeding faster.

After looking over the 9mm dies, I'm really excited to get my press. The dies are really well thought out and are built very well. I have dies from pretty much every other manufacturer and these are very well made.

Then shame on Scheels for selling it all to one guy under the current circumstances. THAT contributes more to the shortage than anything.

Here is an updated back order list from www.brianenos.com (which, for those who don't know, a really good place to buy Dillion stuff)

Known Dillon products on Backorder, as of 02.08.13
Product Return to Stock Date
223 & 308 Dies, steel and carbide Approximately 6 - 8 weeks

Partial list of items that are out of stock, with a 4 - 8 week shipping time:
223 Dies (steel and carbide)
308 Dies (steel and carbide)
Many calibers of Dies (common calibers)
RL 550B presses
XL 650 presses
Super 1050 presses
Square Deal B presses (some calibers)
Strong Mounts, Bullet Tray, Roller Handles
Casefeeders
Primer Pickup Tubes
Strong Mounts
Caliber Conversion Kits and Toolheads (common calibers)
Toolholders w/Wrench Sets
550 and 650 Deluxe Quick-Change Kits - Powder Measures
RF 100 Primer Fillers
Super Swage 600
Media Separators
Tumblers

This list actually isn't much different than the fist one from 1/25. This one mentions powder measures on the same line as quick change kits, and instead of saying 550 tool holders, it says 'tool holders w/wrench sets...pretty much the same.

It's good to hear that stuff is trickling in for many that have been contributing in this thread.

I never thought I'd see the day when Dillon had 4-6 week backorders.

Dillon's are considered by many to be the Cadillac of the reloading industry and many choose to buy a lower-priced competitor's press or dies. For them to be stocking out and back-ordered like this is a real sign of the times.

hAkron
February 13, 2013, 08:18 PM
There is a local gun store/gun range out my way where I like to shoot. They sell Dillon. They were pretty much out of stock on everything, but when I went in there today, they had like 4-6 (maybe more) 650XL's some 550's, some case feeders, a stack of Akrobins, dies, caliber kits, wrench kits...you name it. They also had a single lb of W-231...

The guy said they put their order in around December.

He couldn't provide one when I ordered due to the sheer volume of orders he and Dillon has been receiving.

I was out of state traveling and he personally checked my order status each day so I could arrange pickup. When I got back in town I let him know so he didn't have to continue with the hassle. Hell of a nice guy to go the extra mile.

Still waiting on my pickup tubes and my wrench kit.

Today (2-26) I ordered myself a Toolhead, a Toolhead stand, and a 38/357 caliber conversion. Hopefully it gets here.

Kind of off topic, but I just ordered the basics this time around. I really like the 9mm Dillon Dies, but I plan to transition over most of my existing dies for other calibers. I have a good mixture of RCBS, LEE, and Hornady dies, as well as some Redding competition seating dies. In addition, I have a Hornady LnL AP press, and for most of the caliber for which I reload, I have a Hornady powder die and a universal expander. I also have the a few (not enough for all of my calibers) of the quick change metering inserts. Maybe eventually I'll decide to completely migrate over to the 650 (so far I think it's quality is far superior to my Hornady LnL...but it's still new and hasn't had any issues yet...time makes fools of us all). But I want to take advantage of my current equipment as much as possible.

Same here. Initial order was 3/9. One box was scale, lube, and polish.Another box was case gage and primer tray. Only things left are the main ones. 550B and .40 cal dies. I never got any shipping emails. Only way I knew things were in the mail was charges in checking account.
Hopefully,I'll have everything this time next month.:)

I have to praise Dillon Precision once again. I ordered repair parts about 3 weeks ago and they came in the mail today. Not only did I get what I needed for repair, they sent a complete new priming system for me to try out as well. I am another truly satisfied Dillon customer. Excellent customer service and support.

I placed a small order for 550 toolheads, a toolhead stand and a powder die March 27 and it showed shipping as of yesterday (4/9). Unfortunately now I have to order again since I acquired a new caliber in the meantime!:cuss:

I just decided to make the jump from single stage to progressive with an XL650, by the time I save up for it they should be caught up on the backlog.

I have been parting out and selling off bits of my Hornady LnL AP to finance my migration to my Dillon 650. I ordered the .40 caliber conversion yesterday along with 3 tool heads and 3 stands. That will take care of .40, 357 Sig, and 10MM. I still need a .380 caliber conversion (but its low on my list), and a .44 conversion as well as 5 or 6 tool heads and as many stands, last thing will be a dillon powder check die for each.

Still waiting on my .40/10/357 sig conversion and tool heads that I ordered on 4/12. A bunch of eBay funds for my Hornady press cleared my PayPal, so today I ordered the .44 Mag/Spcl. Conversion and enough tool heads and stands to cover most of the rest of my needs.

I'm also considering adding a dedicated powder despenser to my common calibers, so I added one for my .38 special tool head. I also added a few of the powder check kits that Brian Enos sells to get my order up above the $400 free shipping mark.

Once this order (and the last one) shows up, I should be pretty well complete for what I currently load.

Ordered a 1050 .308 caliber conversion form dillon and grafs. Hoping it doesn't take to long.

I ordered a RF100 primer filler form grafs on back order and it surprised me and came in a week.

I sold the Hornady press (minus the powder dispenser...I'm still using that) , along with an inline fabrication ergo roller handle and strong mount, and a Lee auto disk for for just north of $400 on one of the forums.

The bullet feeder I sold separately on ebay...I forget how much, but it was nearly new, so like $50 under retail.

The bushings I sold $5.00 each plush shipping ($2.50 for 1, 50 each additional).

The bullet feeder dies went to another forum member for something like $50

The shell plates I put on ebay. Some sold near what I paid, some shot through the roof, and some sold below what I hoped.

The case feeder had some issues from the factory that were fine for me, but probably wouldn't be fine for a prospective buyer, so that is currently being replaced by Hornady, and when I get it back I will probably put it up for sale on the forums or eBay for a fair price.

It all sold fairly quickly, and at prices that were agreeable to all parties. I was able to leverage the high demand to lessen hit I was taking by selling it without needing to gouge anybody.
