I'd do it, but that's just my opinion. I like Model 10s and Glocks don't do much for me.

I, personally, would not.

Depends on how much you like the 26, and if you're likely to try to replace it later. The 10 is a desirable gun to many; is it to you? If so, what he's offering is still about a hundred bucks short around here.

It's a no-go from me as well.

No...the G26 is one of the best carry guns around. Buy the Model 10.

Many like the Model 10, but I prefer more modern features on my guns. Little things like pinned front sights so I can replace them with a night sight, chamfered charge holes, smooth trigger face (if it doesn't have it), actual rear sights, stocks that fit my hand and an angled cylinder release latch.

Thanks for the input Boys. I love revolvers.
I would buy a model 10 2 inch barrel in a jiffy if I could get my hands on 1. They seem 2 be very rare. I already have a 4 inch model 10.
My research tells me a model 10 2 incher in very good condition fetches about $500.

^^ Oh, yeah. I forgot about the two-inch part. Might be a fair trade.

I would do it as I love revolvers and they don't make vintage 1976 era S&W Model 10 snubbies anymore whereas the Glock is a current production item.

I would have done that trade yesterday.

Hard to pass up cold steel. Seems like a fair deal to me. I love older revolvers and leather, and don't really like glocks...so this is an easy one for me.

I'd go with the model 10. As far as the VALUE of each item (considering the extra money and the addition of a nice holster), I think it's too close to call. If you've never owned a model 10, I would DEFINATELY do it. Everyone needs to own a 10 at some point in their lives :D

I would do it in a heartbeat!!! If that Model 10 is a round butt, even moreso!

That's a heck of a great trade for you. Not just because I'm a wheelgun fan. I also realize the value of the S&W in that condition and with the more rare short barrel is probably as high as the Glock (or even greater value) all on it's own.

And of course, there's the build quality and craftsmanship that went into making it...

Its a good deal. I bought my model 15 (90%) for $225 about 3 years ago and now I don't see them anywhere for less than $400.

I would do it. Model 10's have way more class than Glocks. Keep in mind that the price of Glocks are through the roof right now so you might be trading down in monetary value.

Do you have other autos and/or other revolvers?

If it was my only auto suitable for self defense, then no. Otherwise, yes.

If you want to get into collecting S&W revolvers, it might be a decent trade (I'm not all that familiar with "collectable" S&W values). If you are looking for another CCW gun, I would say no. If youi want a "snubbie" revolver you would be better off buying a new S&W J-Frame or a Ruger LCR.

A truly 99% percent Model 10 snubby from '76 is worth more than a used three year old Glock 26 from both a purely monetary standpoint, but especially from an availability standpoint: you can get another Glock 26 anywhere, new or used; not so the Model 10.

Unless you have zero interest in owning or reselling the Model 10, or absolutely adore this particular, specific G26, I'd do this trade in a heartbeat.

Do it, quick!

February 6, 2013, 01:53 PM
Yeah, I would. A g26 is far more common and easier to replace. 99% smiths are farther and fewer between. I also have several other carry options so the 26 only has a small toe hold on my personal protection strategy.

Trade!!

Try to keep a straight face while you do it, reserve the giggling for the range.

Of course, I'm biased by a Victory model 10, and my physical incompatibility with the Glock slide clearance. Fantastic pistols.

Yea, I'd take that trade, but with todays prices its pretty much a flip.
Glocks are going for $500 + these days,
but then again, a really nice M10 snub is going for upwards of $400 as well,
so monetarily, its pretty even
3 months ago the M10 would have been a better deal, Imo....
that M10 is also only going to go up in value, and get harder and harder to find. The Glock will always be around.

I wouldn't but I like Glock's. There's nothing special with a S&W M10 accept it's a 2".

February 6, 2013, 07:26 PM
I wouldn't do it even if I had more than one Gen3 G26 lying around.

The G26 is a great EDC, while the Model 10, to me is essentially without value. I wouldn't want to carry it; and due to the 2" barrel, I probably wouldn't enjoy it much at the range either. No other reason to keep it IMO.

I think the trade is even as far as currency goes. Yes I would - but I don't like the way Glocks look.
