The CDNN says that Walther P-38/-1 is "no longer importable". I assume they mean that in terms of the US regulations, not the fact that they can't find any to import any more. Do you know what they meant?

You need to understand the descriptions that high-volume resellers like CDNN use. For example:

"RARE" - only 1,000,000 were sold in the U.S.A., so your odds of finding one locally are less good than the 99,000,000 sold outside the U.S.A.

"NO LONGER IMPORTABLE" - because we couldn't find any more to import, or we stopped importing them. However, someone else who can locate a source of supply will be along shortly...

"HISTORIC FIREARM" - Mentioned in a history book in Upper Trashcanistan back in the 20th century - in the Pashtun language.

"PRE-BAN" - a licence to add about $1,000 to the price tag, whether or not it's worth anything at all to begin with.

And so on...
