Hello Everyone,

Got a question that i'm not really sure about. I've always used CCI primers for both my 38 Special and 9MM handguns.

Does Tula primers work ok for handguns? I've never talked to anyone that uses them.

Thanks.

I haven't heard of any bad experiences with them. They're made in Russia.

I haven't heard of any bad experiences with them. Well, if they are the same as Wolf primers, let me be the first. I bought/used 1k of the LPP. Price was right, but I had quite a few failures to ignite, so that was my first and last experience.

This was 4-5 years ago, so they may be better by now, or maybe I got a bad box. They are still cheap, and if that was the only thing available, I'd try them again.

When I buy by the case, Tula or Wolf primers is all I buy. I've been completely satisfied.

I have used a metric buttload (50K+)of Wolf/Tula primers without any problems whatsoever. I feel that they seat a bit harder in the pockets and as such do not always get seated fully until you get used to them. I feel this is the major reason for failures with them----Yes you get a bad batch now and then of any mass manufactured product but so far I guess I have won that lottery.:D
I feel that having used all the types of primers without problems over the years even some that are no longer available, they all are reliable. Some work better in a particular firearm/load than a different brand will but all will reliably go bang. When supplies dry up the ones that are available are the ones to use IMHO. YMMV

Tula and Wolf: 1 failure in 20k (+/-) small pistol in a .38spc. round.
S&B: 0 failures in (35k)
Just my experience over the past 4 years or so.
I would snatch up the S&B in a heartbeat.

thru 2k, zero failures with Wolf LPP
thru 1k, 1 failure with Tula 223
thru 3k, 15ish failures with Tula SPP (silver color)

So, I saved about 30-40 bucks on Russian primers but had quite a few failures.

I gather some sketchy SPP were sold under the Tula banner a year or two ago, that were silver in color. The current production is brass colored, and I haven't heard too many complaints about them as of late.

But I don't buy 'em anymore, unless I have to.

thru 9k of CCI/WIN/REM primers, zero failures. Kinda explains it.

when primers were hard to obtained the last time around i switch over to tula and wolf primers for pistol and rifle. they all went bang, just like the other brands. no problems. so buy them before i do.

ive purchased 15k tula so far

shot 5,000 tula spp(brass flavor) with no problem
shot 1,200 tula srp(copper flavor) with no problem. 1,100 of which were in pistol. they all go bang
shot 1,800 tula lpp(brass cup) they all made a spark

at $20/k im going to stick with tula. I just wish i stocked up on wolf primers from wideners when they were $14/k just a few months back.
