Chrono recommendations and deals?

My never very good Chrony F1 has given up the ghost after years of spotty and slipshod service. I am somewhat frugal and while I like to have a chronograph for load development I am loathe to spend more than $200 on a new device.

Would you offer some recommendations for the best option available in the immediate confines of that ballpark, and, if you are aware of any deals out there, please share?

Thanks very much.

To trade-in ANY Chronograph (any make) for a Chrony, return your present chronograph (good or bad) together with correct amount plus $12.95 for S&H to the appropriate Address, U.S. to U.S. Address and Canadian and Overseas to Canadian Address. We may not accept shipments otherwise.

They also have an upgrade offer where you can send in a working Chrony and they'll upgrade the components to the higher end model of your choice for a lot less than buying new. I'm thinking about sending in my F1 to have upgraded into a Beta. Total cost with shipping both ways should be about $70.

You know what, after looking over the trade-in prices more carefully, once you add in the shipping to and back it's pretty much the same as buying new from Amazon. :(

Maybe they'll give you a break and upgrade your dead F1.

Upgrade to the Master F1, keep the read out away from the bullets, cheaper when you shoot it. I know!

Which part do you think is not working the sensors, or the controller part?

It has ceased to conduct electricity. No sign of electrical activity whatsoever. It may perchance have gotten slightly moist...

Thanks for replying. I thought I might have something that would help you, but you would need good sensors for it to work.

I have a Competition Electronics ProChrono Digital Chronograph.
If you shop around you can find 'em for about $100.

When (not if) you shoot it, they'll replace it for 1/2 of the MSRP of $120.
Or they repair your old one, which ever is cheaper.

Also, I use 3/16" wooden dowels instead of the metal uprights for the sky screens.
That way when you hit a dowel, it just breaks rather than tipping the whole thing over & possibly breaking it.

That's some good advice there, thanks for the tip!

Thanks for the advice - especially the rowel idea. I will take a look at the Comp Elect Digital. In any event, I'm glad I took some time on this. I was ready to go buy bells and whistles with printers etc. I don't need all that for basic load development. Appreciate the advice.
