OK. This is for you leagal beagles out there. I am a Michigan Citizen (DL, car registration, voting, etc. all Michigan). Active duty US Navy in a state that does not have ccw. The question is: how could I get a MI CCW through the mail (if possible) as I do not have the time to spend a week or so in MI to get the thing and is even such a deal possible? Not intereseted in ccw in this State per se, but would like it for recip. in neighboring states: VA PA etc. any suggestions?

Don't know how Michigan handles it, but if doesn't work out, you can get a FLORIDA CCW through the mail, even though you do not live here.

Florida will issue a CCW to any qualified US citizen. You can fill out an online request form here (http://licgweb.doacs.state.fl.us/license/forms.html) and they send you the paperwork.

It is then reciprocal in Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Montana, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont and Wyoming. Unfortunately, Michigan only excepts a Florida CCW if you are are Florida resident.

Michigan requires you take two classes before you even apply. The application is sent before a board and you must appear before this board to receive a permit.

Go here for more info: http://www.mcrgo.org/

Good luck.

I have never heard that and wish I knew about this earlier.

Thanks for the info.
