OK, I'm trading a pistol on armslist, and have two offers. Which do you think is the better deal?

A. Springfield XDM9 4.5" with 4 19 round mags (two extra mags), case & all the accessories. I wil have to add 100 rounds of target ammo & about 70 rounds of Hornady SD ammo to make this trade happen.

B. Springfield XD9 Tactical (5" barrel) with two 16 round mags & case with all the accessories. He will add 250 rounds of Federal 115 gr. FMJ ammo & $40. This pistol has less than 400 rounds through it.

Thank you.

I happen to have both of those pistols, as well as an XDm 5.25 in 9mm. The XD9 Tactical is lsightly more accurate than my XDm 4.5, but that may be because I have been shooting it quite a bit longer, the XDm 5.25 is the most accurate of the 3. For whatever reason both of the longer barrel models balance in my hand better than the slightly shorter one. Maybe it's all in my mind as the 1/2" additional barrel (between the two you are considering) should not make that much of a difference.

The 19 round mags are worth a bit, as I recall they were going for around $40 ea. pre-madness. It really depends on how much you value the additional 3 rounds. Although I keep the XDM 4.5 as my primary car gun the XD9 Tactical is my wifes bedside gun. When I am shooting in a competition the XDM 5.25 is my primary gun and the XDM 4.5 is my spare gun, simply because they use the same mags.

Personally with the choices you have I think the XD9 Tactical is the better trade. I like the slightly longer sight radius, and 16 rounds should be enough for anything you need it for.

Both are really accurate. If it were me, I would probably go for the tacical, just because. I have shot both, and own the XDM and can't really say if one is more accurate than the other, but .5" more barrel may add some factored accuracy to it.

Neither is a bad choice, I personally would go with the Tactical vs the XDm

the extra magazines are a bonus right now since the cost of them has gone up quite a bit. If you've got the ammo to spare to make the deal, i'd go for the first option.

As luck would have it, I have both models too.

I love the grip on the XDm compared to the XD. I dig the 19 round magazines, too.

The 5 inch barrel of the XD tactical just shoots real well for me.

For your deal, I would take the XD tactical. The extra magazines of the XDm are nice, but you have to give up some precious ammo. With the XD tactical deal, you get lots of ammunition, which is getting a little hard to find right now.

I'll be the contrarian, again. I prefer the overall feel of the XDm. The extra mags are worth their weight in gold. Ammo supplies will eventually refresh but we stand a better than even chance of losing the magazine capacity battle.
