I went to my mailbox today, and look what was in it:

I didn't have a knife on me, but fortunately, USPS boxes are easy to open without a knife:

A nice little pouch, I wonder what is inside:

...And the blade is dead centered:

Apologies for my shaky cell phone photography. The knife is made by T. A. Davison, and it is his #963. The scales are worm bone, the steel is ATS34, and it is 3 5/8" closed with a blade that comes in at about 2 7/8".

I have been a fan of Todd's work for the past few years, but I have never seen one of his knives that wasn't already sold (most of his knives seem to sell in a matter of minutes). This past weekend, I was browsing on BladeForums, and I saw that this beauty hadn't been snatched up, so I put in an "I'll take it." Fortunately, no one had made a firm commitment, so the knife was mine!

Fast forward to today, I got the knife in the mail, and I couldn't be happier. All of the pictures that Todd posts do not exaggerate his quality and craftsmanship at all - the knife looks as good or better in person than in the pictures. I think I might have to start a collection of these, maybe try to get a new one each year. Thank you Todd, and I hope everyone enjoys the unboxing pictures.

As a reference, here is the promotional picture of the knife that was posted:

Beautiful, like all of his knives.

He runs a risk of loss with the lack of tape around the box and the lack of padding around the case.
If you can just rip it open so can anyone else.

Sweet knife tho.

The box is designed to be sealed without tape, the protective case has padding that I would consider adequate for even the roughest journeys, and the box was insured. I'm sure something could happen, but I have a feeling that he ships enough knives that he has his system down.
