springfield trp(not the operator) $1600+

wilson combat protector(all black- not 2 tone , battle sights not night sights, no mag funnel?)$2900

Kimber Combat gold rl II $2200

would likely have wanted a trp operator 1/2 rail for $1600 but that got sold

this would likely be my only shot at a nice 1911 and would never be able to buy another one

I'll have to say a two tone Kahr CM40 but your list I would have to go with Kimber Combat.

Springfield or Wilson. Run from the Kimber.

Wilson Combat. If its your only shot at a top shelf War Horse, get one that's going to be trustworthy.

If you can't rake that together, that Springer is mighty fine too.

Get the Wilson Combat. You can't put a Kahr in the same class as a Wilson.Thats why it wasn't on his list.

thanks. Is that wilson model at that price decent? the springield trp operator which is what i liked was, for example, priced a $100 less than the other trp without the rail and bull barrel in the gun shop i frequent the most. the other gun shop is more expensive for most items.

feauture wise and aesthetics, i really liked the kimber but even the gun guy over the counter recommended the trp operator over it (when it was still available) in terms of reliability and value.

If money is no object and this is going to be your one and only M1911 then I would say go with the Wilson Combat Protector. If there is a financial factor involved then go with the SA TRP and use the money you saved for ammo, accessories, and any other gear (like a quality holster), you might need.
