Question on Post Buttons/Quotes

Can I ask why there is not a "quote this message" and a "multiquote" button on each post?
Not trying to be difficult - but I am a site moderator on another VBulletin forum and we have those?? One button directly quotes the post and takes you straight to the "reply" box with the quote you selected in an insert box - the "multiquote" lets you click that button on multiple posts and then when you hit "Reply" at the bottom the multiple posts will queue up in the "reply" box - allowing you to respond directly to each one - in one post.

I did read through the "sticky" thread relating to this - and I saw the post about "bandwidth" - but that was in 2007. Not many people still have dial-up in 2013??? Does the site still have the same issues as 2007 when that thread was created?

Like I said - I'm not trying to cause trouble - just curious if this was something that could be added to this great site??

The second half of Mal's sticky post there probably makes it more clear:

The arguments for keeping the button, such as "it makes it so much easier to quote someone", or "members should delete the text they don't need to quote" have all been heard before.

The former argument may be true, but is it really so hard to cut, paste, highlight and click on the quote button ( )? Taking a little effort to quote someone should make the quoted material more pertinent to the post; it will certainly discourage the lazy practice of quoting an entire post just so that a member can say he or she agrees with it.

The latter argument just isn't true. Members simply don't edit quotes derived with the quote button. It seems to be an all or none type of thing.

So please don't start a thread here asking for the quote button back, it won't happen. A poll where 90% of the members say they liked the button and it should be reinstated won't help. Folks, it's not a democracy here when it comes to the quote button - it's gone.

We don't like what happens when there is a quote button so we ask folks to make the effort to do a bit more work if they really need to quote someone.

We've tried it both ways. This is our way.

Yep. The other alternative is to have a whole lot of people quote 3 pages of text, then add on "I agree."

This takes about 5 more seconds to do, but leads to a much higher signal:noise ratio.

All you have to do is copy and paste if there's something you need to quote...
