They may call that "zombie green". I've always called that color "caterpiller gut green".

I don't know... of all the cool reasons to take up the pastime, if what gets a person into shooting is a vomitus stock, then I'm not so sure I want them around the sport.

I appreciate steel and wood. But we have a lot of new shooters young, and teens that this would appeal to as an entry level "race" gun. Some people just like the louder the better. No accounting for taste. No problem with them liking it by me.

I actually think their zombie grips for handguns might be a good idea for a nightstand gun. Would help get your hands on it quickly in the dark.

I love zombie movies, I love watching the walking dead, I may even be talked into having a serious Z-Day discussion, I was even startled by a zombie outside of 7/11 recently(crazy crackhead homeless guy growling and shuffling towards me), but I just don't get the super bright green zombie crap. I really don't mind all the zombie stuff, but who decided bright green=zombies?

Ruger pretty much hit one out of the park with that rifle. The 10/22 and the MK series pistols have paid a lot of bills for them... ;)

Uh...it's just a green stock, right? Race gun folks and other competitors have been painting their guns crazy colors for a long time now. Who the heck cares?

Somewhere or another I have a photo of a Rem 1100 stock painted red with an airbrushed vignette of Shaggy and Scooby Doo! Pretty cool, actually.

Honestly, my 10/22 stock is a little nasty. Think I might pick that up. The boys will really enjoy that in a few years. .22s are supposed to be FUN, right?

I'd even buy one in Hot Pink. My daughter was given a pink spray-painted BB gun with Barbie and animal stickers on it when she was four years old (she is now 15). She (and her younger brother) have now settled on how they will eventually divide up the family collection, having both been very active in our club, and taken over almost all the reloading chores and maintenance of the various loaders. I'll tell you something guys: when your own children take after one of your passions with great interest, and do it well, just watching them is worth all that time spent, miles driven, and money spent.

Yes, the stock is ugly in my opinion, and I would never put anything that bright on any firearm.

However...

The Walking Dead is my absolute favorite television show, and I've watched it every Sunday night since the very first episode aired. It pulled in all-time record ratings last Sunday night. It is being watched by a huge population, many of which are impressionable 18-35 year old males. I know of at least 2 friends of mine who have become first-time firearm owners specifically because of the Walking Dead. Their excuse is "preparation" for some unforeseen future event, but the Zombie-themed apocalyptic television show is the seed that put the idea in their heads to become gun owners, and more generally, "preppers" in a casual sense.

Don't underestimate or undervalue the effect that Zombie shows, movies, and games are having on people wanting to become first-time gun owners. Aren't more gun owners a good thing?

Just think of it as Redding Green rather than Zombie green ;)

For a survival type firearms having it be an easy to find high visibility color could be a very useful feature in certain situations.

As a hunter Ive always wanted to be able to buy a "less than lethal" orange stock for my deer rifle.

I have "zombie grips" on my 386xl revolver just because they were cheap and fun. Who knows in a struggle in low light with a two or four legger those bright grips could be a godsend. For me it has nothing to do with zombie culture and everything to do with practicality and preference
