Hummm any word on banning bow and arrows? You know those things are deadly without someone pulling it back and arming one of those missile looking broad heads in there. It even has a pistol grip on it. Makes those things skeery! Wonder if those are next!

Crossbows are already illegal to hunt with in some places. As far as a general ban? Pray we never have a "beltway archer" type serial killer. After all, they are nearly silent and plenty deadly in skilled hands.

Check your local ordinances. Bows can be a fun way to 'shoot' at home.
In my city, I can stand in my yard and shoot a bow all day long. No problem as long as the 'missile' stays in my yard.
However, if I shoot one single BB from a Red Ryder in my yard, I'll be arrested.
Crazy, but that is the way the ordinances are written.

Best thing about bows is you don't have to worry about shortages or panic buying of ammo. If I worked at a local bodega and somebody came in to rob me by "bow point," I'd pay it the same respect I would a firearm. Ditto for a pellet gun pointing my way.

Actually, from the talk I have been hearing, crossbows are gaining legal acceptance in hunting. I believe Ohio has opened it's bow hunting season to crossbows. Many states allow crossbows to be used during the regular firearms hunting season.

Crossbows in MD are treated pretty much the same as other bows for both hunting and target practice. I have a collapsible 180lb crossbow I take out to the range occasionally, but mostly shoot a traditional horsebow with wood arrows. Shouldn't underestimate vertical bows either. My trad archery group shoots 30-second speed rounds, and my friend has a personal best of loosing 15 shafts before the buzzer, with a group 12-15" wide at 20 yards.
There's a guy on Youtube who shows you how to make perfectly functional bows out of discarded plumbing parts (mostly PVC pipe) and a stove.

PA made crossbows legal for deer hunting during regular archery and firearms season last year. Prior to that, they were only legal with a special permit for handicapped hunters.

Kid in Casper shot his college teacher with a bow
It was his dad. Irony is the arrow didn't even disable him. Deed was done with a kitchen knife.
btw, I don't find the political wisecracks all that amusing, just depressing. Saturday I schooled a raging liberal about assault weapons and actually changed his mind. If you want to keep your rights, you have to stand up for them where it's hardest.
