Found The Firingline about a year before it closed and got on with the first visit and I got lucky and found the Highroad before it went live.

March 10, 2004, 12:54 PM
I got onto the site and then registered first thing.

I was shooting for a while before discovering THR. I lurked for a bit over a month. The biggest reason is that, as I don't often have much time to spend here, by the time I got to the really interesting threads someone already said what I wanted to say!

Lots of smart folks here...

March 10, 2004, 01:20 PM
Registered at TFL about 2 minutes after I found it. Took me a few weeks to settle on THR as a replacement.

Hmm... I found out from the 1911forum. Took me about a week to actually sign up and stuff. But usually it doesn't take me long to register onto a forum, Im on so many different ones that one more doesn't hurt.

Hell I'm even signed on GlockTalk for heavens sake. But that took much, much longer to register into. :p

March 10, 2004, 01:34 PM
I registered pretty quickly after find the site. I've done all my lurking since. ;)

March 10, 2004, 01:36 PM
Joined the same day a buddy told me about it.

March 10, 2004, 01:40 PM
I joined right away....and I've been lurking ever since.

March 10, 2004, 01:51 PM
Actually my experiance mirrors Kinsman's. I joined up the instant I found TFL, but I only racked up 85 posts on the 3 yrs I was there (I was too busy reading...). I post a little bit more here at THR, but not much.

March 10, 2004, 01:58 PM
Been "Lurking" for about three months now. Finally got P.C. intelligent thanks to my brother. BTW ,he is the one who introduced me to this informative and entertainiing site.

March 10, 2004, 02:43 PM
Lurked for about 2-3 weeks before I registered.

March 10, 2004, 02:53 PM
Umm, it took me three years to register...:( I think I've read each thread on TFL's historical thread listing at least twice.

March 10, 2004, 03:28 PM
I hung out less than a week before registering on TFL.

Came here when I first heard it was the "new" gathering place.

Lurked intermittently on TFL .. ''always meant to sign up''!! That did tho ''introduce'' to me many of the familiar names.

When I got heads up from Derek re THR, it was not too long before signing in ...... and now, well ..... addiction has gotten the better of me!:)

March 10, 2004, 03:38 PM
How fitting that this is my 1,000th post.

I lurked for one or two days after I found the site. I found it thanks to a thread on which included a link to Oleg's site, . This is without a doubt, the best firearms discussion forum on the net. Thanks Oleg.

Almost a month, and I'm still trying to soak up all this information.

March 10, 2004, 03:45 PM
I've been lurking since Novermber-ish. So more than two months.

March 10, 2004, 03:59 PM
About a minute and a half after TFL announced it was closing and THR opened up.

There isn't a category for "I didn't lurk at all". :)

March 10, 2004, 04:10 PM
Found the THR last week, over from outdoorsbest, liked the tone and content, and jumped right in. Water temp seems fine so far...

Still trying to figure out why "molon labe" wasn't in my church school class.

March 10, 2004, 04:19 PM
I was referred to the THR by a thread on the Ruger Forum,, read that thread and joined. Great forum. Thanks mods and admins. I'm glad to be here. :D

March 10, 2004, 05:46 PM
I'm pretty sure I registered on TFL the same day I found it.

March 10, 2004, 05:51 PM
I lurked on TFL for over a year before I eventually signed up..

I joined THR the moment the doors opened to the public. :D

March 10, 2004, 06:03 PM
Lurked on the TFL for quite a while just to get some information. Later on I decided to post some.

March 10, 2004, 06:14 PM
I found The Firing Line just as it was closing. So when THR was announced, I joined as soon as I found out.

March 10, 2004, 06:16 PM
I lurked for the better part of a year before I joined. Being pretty new to both guns and pollitics, I didn't feel I had anything to add to the conversation.

March 10, 2004, 06:20 PM
IIRC, I think I lurked about 5 minutes before upping into TFL.

For me, more like one day! After a total of 4,560
post on TFL I made the transition over to THR
smoothly. All hands are to be congratualted, for
both are very nice, informative works!

Best Wishes,

Found the site, read a few threads, signed up, started posting. Needless to say, I was impressed.

March 10, 2004, 10:51 PM
I signed on with TFL after about a week. I grumped around the house for three days when I found TFL was closing. (wife threatened to shoot me to put me out of my misery) Then I found THR was forming and signed on pronto. Never been sorry.

I heard about TFL when it first opened, but delayed joining for about a month. Finally there were some threads that I thought a lot of guys got wrong (why the DAO pistol evolved) so I finally chimed in.

March 11, 2004, 11:03 AM

I still have more to learn than to teach.

Only joined so I could say, "Thanks for all the information and help" and haven't gotten around to sayng it yet.

March 11, 2004, 08:54 PM
About 2 minutes after I found out TFL was shutting down . . .

March 11, 2004, 09:42 PM
Found out about it from 1911 forum, came over and joined right away. I didn't start posting until very recently. I do ALOT of lurking and feel like I know some of you (as casual acqaintances).

Now that I am posting maybe you will get a chance to know me.

March 11, 2004, 09:45 PM
About 6 months. First board I ever even posted anything on.

March 11, 2004, 10:18 PM
I lurked on TFL for a long time, I think I was a poster for a little while before it closed.

I have been lurking here for a long time too. Some will know me from other boards as well.

Great forum, and howdy everyone!

As soon as I heard about the place and haven't regretted it yet!

March 12, 2004, 08:08 AM
The day I found it, actually.
I was on a Ford Taurus site looking for info and someone had a picture from Oleg's site in there sig.
I followed it here, and signed up in about 5 min of surfing.

Love at first sight:D

I don't know what all qualifies as lurking. I've been reading posts that dad has shown me from the firing line. So I was kinda lurking since before THR started, but then I lurked for a while, always reading over daddy's shoulder. Still am reading over daddy's shoulder cause then I can read 2 threads at the same time. :D  :neener:

I've lurked since TFL was shut down. Getting set up through e-mail on THR was a big no-no at work. But I'm back now. Same handle as I was on TFL.

Yes it's my real name.
I don't care who knows, cause I got 'nuthin to hide.

I joined TFL as soon as I knew it existed.

I had been on a friendly, well mannered forum on CompuServe (remember them?) that went bye-bye when AOL came in. They taught me a lot, got me through my first two purchases. When I left due to AOL, I still had a hunger for information that couldn't wait for someone else to ask.

By the way, the core of the CompuServe group is now at FirearmsForum. Great people, but small group. I find the web site less easy to work with than this format.

I lurked at The Firing Line for maybe a day before I asked my first question. Been getting good advice there and here ever since. Thanks to Oleg and all who share their thoughts and insights.

March 13, 2004, 06:08 AM
I was on TFL for about 5 minutes before I signed on.

Here on THR the first page I opened once I got here was the registration page. That'd make it about, oh, 3, maybe 4 seconds. ;)

March 13, 2004, 01:49 PM
Was lurking on and off for about 6 months, then just got active when the ******** hit the fan in DC again.

March 13, 2004, 03:30 PM
MY brother was on here long before I was, he kept telling me "check out this cool gun board that I found" so thanks to him I am here. It took about two weeks for me. :p

March 13, 2004, 04:46 PM
MY brother was on here long before I was Awe .. come on Dorin .... don't leave us in suspenders! Who is your bro??:p

Lurked TFL off and on for a month or so before it closed, and lurked here since then...I don't even remember how long ago that was, I'd guess a year or so?

March 16, 2004, 02:10 PM
as long as it took me to sign up using a dial-up connection.

March 16, 2004, 05:15 PM
LoL i'm still lurking.
