Should I actually use a .40 caliber jag for a .40 caliber barrel?

I have never used one, but am ordering a set. I never thought much about a caliber sized jag. I suppose I thought something fitting the barrel might harm the barrel.

most jags are made of Brass or Plastic.....both of which are much softer than the steel of the barrel, meaning the jag will deform before they can do any serious damage to the barrel.

so unless you are gorilla fisting your cleaning rod into the barrel....you arent going to hurt a thing.

simply order the right sized jag for your barrel and you are good to go.

A .40 cal jag is going to be slightly undersized to fit in a .40 cal barrel with room for a patch. Pretty much all jags do this, brushes are however true diameter usually.
