Anyone have any experience on the Double Star brand AR-15? I found that I am considering, because it sort of looks like an XM 107, or an early model M4. I think it might be pre-ban. I like how it looks, but that is not a good enough reason to buy it if it is a piece of junk.

i don't think "providence" means what you think it means. or you've been a victim of iphone spell check.

are you saying you have an antique double star and you're trying to identify it? a model number would help. or a picture.

I used the wrong word, I meant experience. :D

Good to GO.

Quality AR's.

(Personal experience + an AR armorer & AR competition shooter's judgement after inspecting one).

I did a Google search for Double star, and apparently this is real

Double Star items are good items. My 20" I had would shoot right at an inch and under at 100. My buddies Colt wouldn't do that.

i built two of their lowers, no complaints a few years ago they were so affordable i could not pass them up, <$60 each. i don't have any of their uppers though.

I own one with about 500-1000 rounds downrange. I'm impressed with it. Fit and finish rivals that of the high dollar ARs if not exceeding many of them. Accuracy is good, and I have used it to hrvest on mature whitetail buck as well. If I happened across another at a reasonable price, I'd certainly grab it. I wished I had bought 3-4 at the $650 price point I bought mine at

I'm looking at 1800. It is M4 style, but with a fixed stock, and it has a Cobray 37mm launcher on it. The first thing I would do is put a military style collapsible stock on it and maybe an XM 177 style flash hider on it, if I purchased it.

double star makes awesome rifles but $1800 for a M4 style is way to high

It is better then 2000+ and you have to figure the Cobray is FMV of about $300, which means I am paying $1500 for the rifle, which is not great, but not bad considering the current craziness. When this calms down will it be worth this much? Maybe, but I don't care, because I wont sell it unless I have no other recourse.

They are good AR's. I have looked at DoubleStar when I was looking to buy my first AR15 a while back, but I ended up buying a Bushmaster.

$1800 is a bit much; I know they used to sell for around $600 last year. You can find other brand AR's between $1400-1600 right now that are on the same level as DoubleStar (or better).

I've been looking at DS rifles as well and they seem pretty good but please don't pay $1800... im finding ARs at normal prices every few weeks at local stores just be patient and jump when you find one. They're most likely not going to be this expensive for long and you'll probably kick yourself in 6 months if you pay these crazy prices. .02

try a few online auctions first, I'm seeing closer to pre panic prices on ar's on gunauction.com

http://www.gunauction.com/buy/11749556/rifles-for-sale/semi-auto-rifle/pwa-comando-cal-5.56mm-rifle-nic

http://www.gunauction.com/buy/11746712/rifles-for-sale/semi-auto-rifle/del-ton-dl-sport-dti-flat-top-ar15-ar-15-.223-5.56

Or get the lower and upper separately

http://www.gunauction.com/buy/11742867/rifles-for-sale/semi-auto-rifle/new-frontier-complete-ar15-lower

http://www.gunauction.com/buy/11739297/gun-parts-rifle/gun-parts-rifle-other/stagarms-ar15-pre-ban-model-3h-complete-upper-5.56

That gets you closer to the $1300 range after shipping and transfer fee's...still overpriced but at least not as much

Sarco has kits if you want to go that route with a lower.

I have one I ended up with as a good deal sometime ago. Functions just fine but I haven't shot it much. It had a long custom barrel and free floated hand guard is why I grabbed it. Also a good bi pod on it. Anyway, from what I have done with it they seem to be good rifles.
