My 1911 turned 100 this month, and I found some nice reproduction sights to replace the WWII era replacements that have been on it for a while. Cylinder and Slide provided the parts, and I spent a few hours at my gunsmith's shop getting an apprenticeship in sight fitting, polishing, and nitre bluing.

The replacement rear is a little fat, and somebody opened up the front to take the WWII tenon, so the front is sitting in some green locktite.

I think it looks better, and I have a much better appreciation of what a pain in the butt it is to fit and finish small parts on a 1911. Also nitre bluing is about the coolest thing ever...so simple.

Nice. It's good to see the patina matching.
Enjoy
