I put one on a Mini 14 I once had, but sold the gun before I had a chance to try it out. However, I can't think of a downside to it.

As well or better than advertised. They look good on there too.

I have been mulling this very same question for our mini-14 and mini-30. Seems these will be on our short list for when we get our government loan back.

Had one on my 185-series, biggest difference I noticed was less stringing when the barrel heats up.

They work, but work best on the older, thin barrel Mini's. 580 series dont seem to get much if any boost in accuracy.

My old Mini is awesome, but ugly, with a homemade strut. Groups went from 2 FEET :what: to 1/2 " - 1 1/2 " at 50 yds :) No stringing or heat issues at all.
ps and with a red dot only

Yes they work on all models, even the 580 and newer series, just not to the extent they help the older pencil barrel minis. Two benefits, it stabilizes barrel harmonics and acts as a heat sink. You Will see improvement in accuracy.
