I normally load pet loads for my 44magnum using about 7gr of unique with a 429421 cast. Sometimes I up my charges to about 8 - 9 if I feel like I need more "kick".

Found some 44spl cases in my pile and was wondering if I'll have any advantages of using the 44spl cases with the above loads rather than the 44mag cases ?

I usually load 8.3 gr of Unique under a 200 JHP in my 44 SPL's. My plinking magnums usually get 10.0gr of Unique under a 240gr JSP. My SPL load is kinda hot, but the mag load is pretty light. YMMV.

SPL cases will be smaller volume, thus higher pressure, but they seem fairly safe based on the info provided.

The powders I use for the 44mag.are unique and 2400 - light loads get 7 or 8gr of unique or hard loads get 18 18.5 of 2400 under a 300gr lead BTB.

My go to load for years is 7.7 gr Unique with that bullet in the 44 Spl case for use in a 44 Spl gun.

Personally, I would not load over published max loads for 44 Spl in 44 Spl brass. The reason is because someone might put them in a 44 Spl gun which is not designed to hold the higher pressure. Kaboom!

I would not go heavier than 7.5 grains Unique with a 240 in a 44 Special case. A very comfortable load is 6.5 grains Unique in a 44 Special case.
