A big thanks to Magpul

Mr. Smith of Magpul (sorry, I didn't catch his first name) was at the capital with us all day, waiting to speak. When he finally had the opportunity, he did us proud, with a logical and articulate but also impassioned testimony opposing the legislation. Even when assured that the bill would be amended to not affect his company, he remained in staunch opposition.

This is an American company with 100% USA made quality products that keeps prices fair, AND they fight by our side to preserve our rights.

I know most here are already big fans of Magpul, but their actions on capital hill today in the golden dome deserve special recognition and appreciation.

I'd tell you to buy a Pmag as thanks, but, ummm....yeah. lol. So how about just send them a quick note of gratitude instead!

I would state it MUCH stronger. Magpul is a staunch 2a RKBA supporter. I am going to buy something else from them no matter how all this pans out.

I'd suggest a sticky with a list of companies that are standing up to the gun grabbers. I know that I'll make it a point to shop these companies in the future and hope others would do the same.

If there is video of the testimony that is/could be posted so the rest of us could see it, that would be great.

Apparently Mr. Smith's testimony had some effect with the committee. They amended their bill to continue to let Magpul/other industries manufacture high cap magazines in Colorado. So, it is OK to make them here, as long as the dangerous Colorado citizen is not allowed to own them. Another example of real clear thinking by our legislature. :cuss:

Good for Magpul. Better if they move after CO passes the bill even with the amendment. We can't continue to operate in these states. It still supports their agenda through taxes. If this bill passes they need to move.

If this bill passes they need to move.

I agree, though I wouldn't want it to happen right away. Even if this bill becomes law (still a long way to go), it will face challenges of constitutionality and others. The PEOPLE of Colorado are NOT HAPPY about this. In light of that, I would hope Magpul sticks around long enough for us to have a chance at repealing this ridiculous legislation if it did get signed into law. I would love to see their tax revenue taken out of the state the instant the bill became law, but I DO NOT want to see hundreds of unemployed Coloradoans.

If the challenges were to fail and the law proved here to stay, then yes, Magpul, vote with your dollars.

So please, folks, continue to do business with Pro-RKBA Colorado companies. This fight is costing us. Between lost income from days spent at the capital instead of running my small business, donations to NRA and RMGO, fuel, parking, etc, I have personally spent over $1,000 THIS MONTH on the fight. And it's only the 13th.

+1 MacIV; I buy stuff from them every chance I get and (selfishly) wish, if the law passes, they'll move to FL because I'd love to work for them.

I agree, though I wouldn't want it (Magpul moving to a free state) to happen right away. Even if this bill becomes law (still a long way to go), it will face challenges of constitutionality and others. The PEOPLE of Colorado are NOT HAPPY about this. I would love to see their tax revenue taken out of the state the instant the bill became law, but I DO NOT want to see hundreds of unemployed Coloradoans.

I'd hate to see the unemployed Coloradoans also, but it's more important to cut the funding source. For employees unwilling or unable to move, the jobs will be filled by citizens of the new state, and the taxes paid (although probably less) to a freer state.

I also applaud Magpul, and will buy some of their products. I do have two of their mags, but had plenty of GI mags before they came out. I was surprised at all of the other stuff they also make (just googled). I'll buy some stuff, be it more mags or "other" in response to their recent stand but I would also encourage them to move if this travesty passes. There are lots of states with better business climates in addition to treating their citizens as citizens (vs. subjects).

agreed.

think it's time to email them and ask them to just that... ESPECIALLY if you're a CO resident.

My words to Magpul...

Dear Sirs....
Thank you for attempting to speak reason to the unreasonable. Unfortunately a draconian and useless law was otherwise passed. While the bill was ammended to allow you to remain in the (not so?) great state of Colorado, it is clear the legislature does not value nor trust its constituents given they will not allow Colorado residents to possess materials manufactured IN Colorado. I urge you in the strongest of manner to follow through on your statement to move.

They also make nice aftermarket rifle stocks. I have the Archangel target stock on my 10-22 and love it. I already have 8 PMags, but can you really ever have enough? Especially after the Zombie Apocalypse scare yesterday in Montana!

Another example of real clear thinking by our legislature.

Having lived in CO since about ought-62 and worked within sight of the gold Capitol dome for many years...

... and having observed the antics of Colorado legislators for lo! these many years, I have developed a theory.

1. We, as humans, are bombarded with intelligence rays from some as-yet-unknown source in the universe.

2. We, as humans, partake of these intelligence rays in varying degrees. Einstein, Da Vinci, and other geniuses seemed to absorb a lot of these rays, hence, their accompanying intellectual achievements. The rest of us not so much, depending on other factors, such as the type of roofing materials we live and work under, whether it's cloudy or clear, and other natural shielding effects.

3. Gold is impervious to these intelligence rays and reflects them back out into space, from whence they came.

Maybe we just need to redo Colorado's Capital dome with tin foil. :D

But seriously folks, if Magpul has to, or chooses to leave the state, the Wyoming border is just up the road, and their Legislature is actually working in support of the peoples rights up there. What a concept!

I appreciate the gesture, but reimbursement is not necessary. It is not only my civic duty to oppose unconstitutional legislation, but also my duty as a husband and a father to do all I can to ensure that my family, especially my daughters, are not legislated out of the means to protect themselves. I did not do this for me, as these bills really don't affect me personally (my personal collection is, ummm...........extensive. I'd be just fine with no further armament). I did this for others just coming of age, those still many years from it and those not yet born or even conceived. This is about the future. Very few of these proposed laws, here, in other states and federally, will have much impact on those of us who have been buying guns and shooting for years or decades. We are fighting this fight for future generations.

I have always been a proud Colorado native until recently, and I do hope that this situation is rectified expediently. We've always been a right of center state with a strong spirit of freedom, but the imports from the PRK and New Yorkistan, and the progressive indoctrination system are changing things. I'm not very proud right now. Of my county, of the county sheriffs of Colorado, of the many citizens who speak to deaf ears of legislators, yes, but not of my state.

Beware, people, this is a cancer, a virus. Your home states are not immune, just resistant. The left shift here did not reflect a right shift in another state. These people infest and infect one area, and then move on to the next once that one is irretrievably broken.

I have 13 Magpul products. Stocked-up months ago.

It's a good start, but please keep patronizing them!

I have, at last count:

33 PMags
2 Maglinks
2 CTR stocks
1 ACS-L stock
1 MOE handguard + rail
3 RVGs
4 MOE grips
4 MOE trigger guards
1 RSA

On the short list:

Set of gen II MBUS
Another CTR for my 597 VTR
An ACS for my AR-10

And this doesn't even count the Pmags I've bought people as gifts, the quantity of which I haven't kept track of.

Just came from my favorite LGS - East Orange Shooting Sports in Winter Park, FL. Pmags out the door for $20 each; picked up two 30's and two 20's. As noted by me on other threads, these guys never gouge and seem to have a pretty consistent supply.

Their only limitation is that you don't buy more than two of any type. This is based on recent experience with holding mass sales 2x a week when inventory arrived and people hoarding & flipping to gouge.

So the state of colorado is telling manufacturers that they want the corporate tax money to keep coming in, but that the honest citizens of colorado can not buy the product that they are producing?

SCREW YOU, COLORADO LEGISLATURE.

And colt, kahr, remington, kimber s&w, and springfield need to get the heck out of the states they are in.

Yep. Absolutely thrilled with how Magpul has handled all this. I think I've got enough AR magazines by now (maybe :)), but assuming all this pans out my next AR build will at least wear all Magpul furniture. Probably will outfit a pump shotgun with their stuff too just for kicks.
