Like the title says, I have a sig 1911 with the sig non-traditional slide profile. I am looking for a decent OWB holster to use for CCW. I'm a portly fellow so IWB is definately out, lol:D. I would prefer something in leather, but I dont want to spend more than about 60 bucks so it will probably end up being kydex.

What are pros/cons to a paddle holster for this situation? Can anyone offer me some holster recomendations?

I believe most of Blackhawk's 1911 holsters fit the Sig 1911's. I have a SERPA for my tacops, and after a short break in period (20-50 draws) if fit perfectly. I can't speak with certainty on all of their holster designs, but if they use the same gun for all the molds (which would make sense) then you should be all set.

Blade Tech also offers a few of their designs molded specifically for the Sig 1911s, I have an IWB from them.

Out of curiosity, which model Sig do you have?

Mine is one of the older Sig GSR Revolutions. The non-traditional slide profile is the real concern, I guess. I have tried it in one holster and it was a no go, but that doesnt mean that it wont fit others.

I have 3 I bought for Serpa,a cheap kydex and a nice wilson combat. The wilson is the nicest, with a suede finish inside.

Get a good gun belt.

Paddle holsters are usually not very stable, and don't carry very close to your body.

Leather around $60 could get you close to a Simply Rugged "Cuda".

The better kydex makers are...

Comp-Tac http://www.comp-tac.com

Blade-Tech (website is currently down)

Garrett Industries (leather lined kydex) http://garrettindustries.mybigcommerce.com

Raven Concealment http://www.ravenconcealment.com

Don't expect to find any of those quality kydex makers for $60.

I dont mind paying more than 60 dollars, but I need to find a holster that someone who owns a sig non tradional slide profile 1911 has that will fit. They dont fit any holster for a 1911.

I believe all of the makers I listed have a form for the SIG profile slide. Specify that is what you have when you order. These are not holsters you find in your local gun store, they are all custom made for your particular pistol. If you are concerned about fitment, give them a call. All of those makers will be glad to talk to you.

You are absolutely right JTQ! I can't thank you enough for your help!

You're welcome.

What did you choose?

While I don't have a SIG 1911, I do have a 1911 holster from both Garrett and Raven. They are both great. While I don't have anything from Comp-Tac or Blade-Tech, they are pretty much the industry standards. It would be hard to go wrong with any of them.

What did you choose?

I decided to go with a new belt and holster from from Simply Rugged. That seems to be a pretty good value for the money and they have great reviews online.

Congratulations. They do seem to make a good product and they ship faster than many other leather makers.

If you dont mind me asking, what did that holster cost you, Big Nugget?

I bought them a year ago. For both it was around $98 shipped. He has the Holster listed on his site for $49.95 http://www.winthropholsterstore.com/servlet/the-235/govrnment-1911-holster%2C-5%221911/Detail

The holster isn't lined, but it is nice and stiff, holds its shape very well and has great retention but stil draws easily. Same goes for the mag holster. I've never noticed any bleeding of the black on any of my clothes.

Not to turn you away from THR, but there is a forum dedicated to the 1911 platform with a sticky in the Sig 1911 section with suggested holsters just for Sig 1911s. I have two Sig 1911s, an XO and a Fastback Carry. I am currently using a Bianci #5, which they both fit in, but the retention strap tends to push the safety to the off position. I too am on the hunt for a new holster. I am looking at the Blackhawk Pancake holster, like $20.
