As you saw in a previous post, yesterday, we saw a perversion of justice as 23 anti-gun laws got rammed through committee, despite overwhelming opposition.

These, and 20 others, are likely to sail through the Assembly and the Senate. Our only hope is a veto by Christie.

He'll be a front runner for a 2016 Republican presidential bid, and he needs to know that his actions on these bills will be carefully watched across the country and will be remembered come 2016.

Please send him a polite letter to show him your conditional support and encourage anyone you know to do so as well.

Thank you.

Here's my letter. Feel free to borrow/copy.

Dear Governor Christie,
The hearing yesterday, in which 23 gun control bills were ramrodded through, was an embarrassment. Assemblyman Mainor was in way over his head and shamed the committee with his ignorance of basic technical aspects regulated by these bills. At one point, even the state police were openly laughing.

I will ask you to seriously consider vetoing these bills if they come to your desk. No one was able to defend them in the hearing, and you can be sure that no one will defend them at the national level.

There will be many unintended consequences and numerous court challenges. I don't see how that kind of attention can help you in the future.

Sincerely,

Well, he doesn't have to know this.

I loved Christie......, until he started crying on tv about not getting enough money. He's been vocal he'll sign legislation, I wouldn't count on a veto.

Hold strong, alot is happening in states that have passed legislation.

I was never fooled by Christie. He's as anti-gun as they come.

No vetoes from him.

If your only hope is in a Christie veto, you're screwed. He's a left leaning centrist that doesn't like guns or low fat foods.

Not that I unconditionally support any political party, but Christie is also as anti-Republican as they come.

You think Christie is actually a republican (notice the small "r") after the big sloppy kiss he gave the POTUS just before the election? He may be more responsible for the mess we are in than anybody, including Romney. There are no real Republicans in NJ, only Democrat-lights. NJ gun-owners need to campaign hard against every one of their representatives that voted for this legislation and get some of them "unelected." Only when there are consequences for their behavior do these people learn. Christie will not veto the bill.

My brother left the Peoples Republic of New Jersey five years ago for the west. His mortgage payment is now about the same as his property tax was there. There are plenty of free states left and nothing is as eloquent as voting with your feet.
