Alright, question for all of you FFLs out there.

I recently bought a gun on GB and had it sent to a local shop which is near where I work. It was delivered yesterday around 11 AM EST, and I never got a call from them to say it was in. So today on lunchbreak, I went in to see what was up.

The gun had arrived, and they showed it to me, but they told me I couldn't take it yet because it had not been logged and the people capable of logging were all out of town until next Tuesday. I live in FL, and the three day wait period ended yesterday

I did some Googling and it seems like there's a limit on the amount of time a dealer has to log a gun into their books. Is that true? If so, how long is it?

Q: How much time does a dealer have to record acquisitions and dispositions of firearms in his or her “bound book?” (http://www.atf.gov/firearms/faq/licensees-records-required.html#time-to-record)
Generally, licensees have to enter the acquisition or purchase of a firearm by the close of the next business day after the acquisition or purchase and shall record sales or other dispositions within 7 days.

However, if commercial records containing the required information are available for inspection and are separate from other commercial documents, dealers have 7 days from the time of receipt to record the receipt in the “bound book.”

If a disposition is made before the acquisition has been entered in the “bound book” the acquisition entry must be made at the same time as the disposition entry.

Thanks Bubbles. I was a little uneasy with it being in limbo, but if it's kosher, I guess it's alright.

Well, if the person 'capable of logging it' is out of town...

why are they open
as they can't sell ANY guns, as the person capable of LOGGING THE SOLD GUN OUT... is out of town...

Actually, it's not "kosher" ... but there is also nothing you can do about it.
