Loading for a new rifle

I picked up a Ruger American in 270 win a few days ago and am experiencing some odd seating depth issues. First of all, I am using brass from some factory I bought just so i could get it on paper and for forming purposes. When I seat Nosler 130 gr. Ballistic Tips to where they just fit the magazine, they don't chamber cause they jamming hard into the lands. So as I keep seating deeper and deeper I'm down to a pretty short OAL, considering what I get with the Savages, M77, and Rem 700's I load the same cartridge for, and using the same bullet. To clear the lands I'm having to go down to 3.188", and that is right on the lands. .010" more and I am completely off the lands.

My concern is I have never, ever in all my years of loading for .270 win. seen a throat this short, even the factory ammunition was in the lands? So what I'm wondering about and have never even had to give consideration to is how this will effect pressures having to be so much shorter than what has been the practical seating depth in all other .270's I've worked with. Most will start touching in the 3.350" to 3.375" OAL with the same bullets.

And here's the weird part, it seems that the rifling is extremely tapered for quite some distance into the throat because when I make contact, I get the same degree of resistant contact for about .100" +. In other words it doesn't get any tighter in the lands until I get up to about 3.300". I've smoked the bullets to be sure of what I'm encountering and it is definitely into them @ 3.188". And to fit the magazine I have to be a 3.295" and that is a close shave.

So with such slight contact from 3.188" up to 3.295", is it unlikely that I will experience significant pressures? And is this a typical throat for this new Ruger American.

Never mind, I have simply loaded to allowable magazine length, and the rifle shoots quite well. This chamber design is a new one to me, but it works very well and isn't as temperamental to seating depth / pressures as most rifles I've loaded for?

Thanks JSmith! My post wasn't really indicating I'm having a problem, but more so that I have not loaded for a chamber that is so tapered, thus I was having difficulty finding the seating depth to the lands, which as I indicated and discoverd, isn't really a goal depth with this rifle, even if I single loaded. I'm not yet sure if I care for this chamber design. We'll see after I've taken through a good break in routine. Basically, if it can't deliver one ragged hole from a minimum of 100 yds. I'll either sell it, or re barrel it.
