I recently purchased an AMT Javelina and finally got the chance to take it out to the range. The gun no longer has its original grips but is in great shape other that that.

The first magazine was used for a function check and went through the gun perfectly. I was able to make a 2-inch group with 8 rounds at 15 yards. Not wonderful but acceptable to me for the time being.

I then proceeded to fire 60 rounds through the gun at 15-20 yards to check for overall accuracy and reliability using a Shoot-N-C orange bullseye for my aiming point (I intended to post pictures of my target but my range partner destroyed them by accident). Of the 60 rounds fired nearly all were within a 2-2.5 inch group just low of the target. There were several (2-4) fliers an inch or so to the right of the main cluster which extended the total group size to about 3.5 inches. Not my best day at the range but I'll take it anyway!

In the course of shooting the Javelina there were a total of 2 stovepipes, 4 failures of the slide locking open prematurely and 2 jams that were caused by an improper grip by my shooting partner. The majority of the jamming occurred in the later part of the testing as the gun got dirtier. At least one of the stovepipes was caused by limp wristing (I pulled the trigger before I was ready).

Ammo used was American Eagle 180-grain FMJ and the ammo seemed very weak. I intend to develop some handloads to get the Javelina to perform better in the future and reduce the rate of jamming. An update - with pictures - will be provided when I can get that done.

Overall I am very pleased with the Javelina and intend to take it out to the range with me more often.:D

Nice to hear. Makes me wonder how my own hardballer Longslide would take to a 10mm conversion.

Shhh... I'm gonna tell it that it's just a .40 Super.;)

Underwood ammo has a great 180 grain FMJ load at 1300 FPS. Box of 50 runs 27.00
You could probably add at least 50 fps to that coming out of your extended barrel.

Jealous. Is that a 610 above it?

Dan-O, that is indeed a 610-1 above the Javelina. The full picture is shown in another thread. Link here: http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=702820&highlight=610-1

I reload so I will be making some nice loads for this whenever powder becomes available.
