I'm loading this bullet for the first time and wondering what either the factory COAL is.... Or whatever COAL you've found to be reliable feeding.

Thanks in advance

I loaded up a pile of them a while back for SD/HD. My OAL is 1.225 in a XDm 45 and 2 1911's.

1.21" is what Hornady recommended and that length feeds well for me in a 1911 and an XD.

1.185 for my CZ.

Really you need to adjust your OAL for your particular gun.

I load them to feed from the magazine and fit in the chamber.

I chambered one with a straight fluted reamer and a throater. I used a dummy round with a 230 gr FMJ at 1.275" as the chamber gauge. I know how to load for that one.

My Hornady manual says,
45160 230gr hp-xtp
COL 1.230"
I load three dummy rounds with no crimp and remove the flare. I check these in barrel and work them though the action. I check for set back and dings on the bullet and seat deeper if necessary, I back the charge if I go with a shorter than recommended COL.
I then pull the bullets and resize the cases and make the appropriate adjustments to seat/crimp die.

SSN Vet, if you do some research on the "Plunk Test" it will help. This image was taken from another forum. Good Luck
