I have the GSG 1911-2. I like it very much. I've been surprized by how accurate it is and the fact that it has a pretty nice trigger. The price was right. I found extra mags for it where I purchased. I paid just over $400 for the gun, a 100 minimags, one extra mag, tax, tags and title. So far it has been problem free. I usually shoot only HV ammo however, i just recently I tried some bulk ammo in it and all went well.

The ATI/GSG branded magazines are less expensive than the SIG branded magazines.
Only difference in the magazines is the markings.

Total deal killer for me. for any range gun I want enough mags to load at least 100 rounds before I hit the firing line -- its too hot here to stand around stuffing mags.

I got my GSG from Bud's in April 2012 for $329.48 and that included shipping. I bought the removable rail for about $20.00 and the light for about the same. I really enjoy the gun and it is very accurate. Lots more accurate than my old eyes. They have them now for $348.00 cash with free shipping.

I got one a bit over a year ago for around $330. Extra magazines were about $30, so I got one. After a little break in and finding some ammunition it liked (mine likes CCI brass .22's and mini-mags), it works great. It is accurate and reliable; also a lot fun to shoot.

And, yes, the Sig is the same gun, just more expensive for the Sig name.

I bought the GSG used, quite used. But it was cheap and I was curious. I was prepared to have it be a pos, but it's not. In size and function it mimics my 1911 quite well, except it is too light. But my daughter likes it to practice with so I'll keep it. It's accurate enough, and reliable with all the ammo I tried. It seems to like the faster ammo the best.

There are magazine mods that allow you to go from 10 rounds to 14.

I would check into the Colt/Walther 1911 22. I have 2 and they are excellent. They have several advantages over the GSG/Sig. They come with a 12 round magazine, and have a steel reinforcing pin where the slide stop contacts the slide, when the magazine is empty. The GSG/Sig does not. Since both these 1911 22s use Zamac for the slides, the possibility of wear without reinforcement is greater and it is a concern with the GSG/Sig. The GSG/Sig also needs tools to be broken down(allen wrench), the Colt does not.

I understand this thread is a month old, and the OP may have made his decision already, but maybe this will help someone else.

I played with the Browning at my LGS. The sights are a joke. The front sight fills the rear sight gap completely. How can you accurately shoot a pistol when you cant see any light on either side of the front sight? That killed it for me.
