Hey guys! I'm really curious how many of you have ever heard of a shooting game called Crazy Quail. It's a pretty old game and has had a few variations to it. We've just invented a new way to shoot Crazy Quail using a motorized rotating base.
We're just getting started with this and I'm honestly looking for feedback on it from hardcore shotgunners like yourselves! We just posted a video on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xzSgtuGs_SM) which features Tom Knapp and David Miller from CZ-USA giving the machine a try.
If you've got a minute, please check it out and let us know what you think. We love shooting sporting clays and we think this machine just takes it to the next level.

Thanks for the response Chas!
Which version have you shot? The single machine that is rotated by hand by a person down in a pit?
That was our inspiration for building our machine. I'm currently doing research on the actual rules and various styles of game play people have shot in the past to build our game on.
Our goal is to make Crazy Quail as popular and well known as sporting clays. We have a long way to go for that to happen.

OH YEAH! When I was younger and first married a bunch of my buddies and I shot Crazy Quail every chance we got, at least a couple of times each week. What a ball! One buddies dad owned a big farm, we would go down to the edge of the hay fields and throw them out into the sage. Bet there are still piles of broken clays laying there! **** Just watched your link, looks like a ball! Back when we launched birds out of an irrigation ditch that was about 6 feet deep. We would break up into teams, had 3 single throwers and a few hand throwers, so the number of birds depended on the number of players. Anyway, one team would throw, while each member of the other team shot in turn, then we would switch. We threw birds till our arms ached...great, laid back fun without too many rules. We worked as trap boys at the local club in exchange for hulls and components to blow up. One guy who had money would tip us a case of shells...man...we were RICH then!

The set upwe have at our local club involves a trap and a wobble, (soon to be two wobbles) and the shooting positions are elevated over the machines
Other versions use several machines throwing targets randomly
They are all good

The machine I shot over was set behind a burm and was rotated continuously by electric motor! You had your choice of a knee bump switch, or if you had a partner, he could trip the trap from a simple console behind you. With just enough burm to keep you from seeing and anticipating the throw it made for some exciting fun!

At some fun shoots that our club had we set up a crazy quail course. We had a walk path marked out zigzag across a skeet field. Both skeet machines and the overlay trap were involved at random angles to be shot as you walked the zigzag. I think 30 birds were shot, 10 from each machine, not knowing which machine was next.
