OK call me anxious, but do AR-15s use grease or CLP to clean and lube?

CLP on all steel parts. I use Grease on the hammer face and the contacting surface that it rides on on the Bolt Carrier. I sometimes grease the wear surfaces on the bolt carrier with Tetra Grease, but not always. Other than that, CLP. You could do just fine with CLP on everything though.

CLP will be fine. It's what we use in the military.
Get yourself some dental picks. They come in handy.

I use Butch's Bore Shine, but I'll be switching to GM Top Engine Cleaner soon. CLP works well for the lube. I use a SOLVENT for cleaning and a LUBRICANT for lubrication.

CLP in temps above 20 degrees f, LAW (lubricant arctic weather) in temps below.
You don't need anything else.

Break Free with CLP is all I've ever used in the Army for lube. I now use either CLP or Rem Oil in the bottle. I hate the aerosols.
I've never used CLP to clean with good results. I always use Hoppes#9.

To clean, use a gun-friendly solvent (Red's suggestion on Hoppes #9 is good). If it's really dirty then you may have to use an appropriate cleaning device to loosen and remove the crud. Once everything's clean and functioning properly, use CLP to lightly lube the contact surfaces. Don't overdo it though -- if you get oil in your face when you shoot or if your gun starts to smoke, then you probably used too much lube. :)
