“In order to continue to possess an assault weapon that was legally possessed on the effective date of this section, the person possessing shall ... safely and securely store the assault weapon. The sheriff of the county may, no more than once per year, conduct an inspection to ensure compliance with this subsection.”

In other words, come into homes without a warrant to poke around. Failure to comply could get you up to a year in jail.

In other words, they want you to waive one constitutional right in order to keep another constitutional right?

I am afraid If anyone in my part of Texas introduced a Bill like that, he would be running from a Lynch Mob, which would include Cops and Sheriff's Deputy's.:cuss:

They have now removed that part of the bill and put in a (Corrected Copy). At the same time taking it out of the original to make it look like it was never in there. As far as I know, all revisions of the bills should be listed, however they have decided not to include it in this one.

Found it. They tried it in 2010, with the Sheriff inspection included (see P. 7 line 19). It was not a mistake it was included, that is just their way of backing out of that is what they really want:

The best thing we have going for us is the total preposterous nature of these bills. The more outrageous the less chance they have of gaining support.
