What's the deal with this cartridge? I've never even heard of it, but I was just looking for 1911 magazines on Wilson Combat's website and there they were.

Anybody?

Thanks!

It's just a round used to hot rod a 1911. Kinda like 45 super and 400 cor bon. It kinda fizzled.

Thanks MJ - that's a great article!

I'd love to have one of those Dan Wesson revolvers.

I believe it's picking up speed now that conversion kits for not only 1911's but XD's and Glock's are proving to be able to handle and tame the recoil. Though there's really only a small niche for the cartridge besides being a range toy, and that is as a defensive woods gun if you prefer a semiauto over a revolver. And still, it's only marginally better suited for that role than existing and proven 10mm platforms.

However, it is neat that apparently 45 acp and 45 super work just fine in the converted set up and that makes it incredibly versatile.

Just another example of getting better performance the old-fashioned way - increase the pressures until the gun screams for mercy.
