Went to the range with the little brother today, we had a box of Winchester m22 ammo that I got at Walmart a couple months back (back when they still had ammo on the shelf). He was loading one of my magazines and spotted this deformed round, I was glad he did. Maybe the mold was no good at the factory? The bullet itself seems loose in the case. Could this have plugged up the barrel (assuming it actually chambered)?

Eww, doesn't look like it would have chambered but lucky for you he spotted it before it got to that point.

Definitely, I've just never seen that before. I'll have to go through the rest of the box before the next outing. I'm not really happy with this ammo, almost the price of mini-mags, but doesn't function well in all my .22's....

If it would have chambered it would not have plugged up your barrel, it might have not shot straight but plug the the barrel, nope.

Stuff happens. They crank them out really fast.

"Stuff happens. They crank them out really fast."

Agreed, I thought about that on the drive home.....with all the demand for ammo right now, I wonder if ammo manufactures will be able to keep up the quality ammo while cranking them out at full speed

Gotten quite a few that look like that. They seem fairly common without the cheap Remington line.

Made a few look like that when they dove into the bottom of my 22/45's feed ramp, too.

Heck, I bought a box of .22 Short (Thunderbolts, I believe. Stupidly fun out of a Henry.) and probably one out of four looked something like that.

It's always Winchester ammo...

Lead = soft
Machines of Mass Production = hard

When you're cranking out a few hundred thousand soft things on hard things, eventually you get a dud that QC doesn't catch. Be thankful you didn't find (half of a) finger in your McNuggets.
