Thank you for taking the time to write regarding your concerns about gun control. I wanted to assure you that I review all the mail I receive. Many Floridians write to share their views on issues and your concerns are certainly understandable. The complex issue of gun control should not override the need for mental healthcare. The constitution guarantees the right to bear arms and I support that right.

They are pretty much all on the same page here, after the initial shock seems to have passed on the last major incident, Here is what I sent her. I try to make it less direct but still get the point clear.
Representative Mayfield:
Dear Legislator:
I seldom feel the need to actually write my elected officials about anything. Perhaps it is because I am 64years old, and have seen little come of such things. This differs as I would feel guilty if I had not done something to help stop this tearing up of the Constitution, and all these lawyers trying to convince us that the Framers, meant something other than what they wrote. So once again I ask you to please side with the people who built and protected this country and reject any form of re interpreting the 2nd amendment. It's there for a reason, and we should leave it alone. Those who would try to convince us that we don't need this or that, are just wrong. If a criminal has something available to them, I at least want to be on equal footing, as our police, "they have told us here in my town", that they cannot protect us. They have neither the money nor the manpower to do this, and by law, are not even required to do so.
Let's get serious, sane people don't shoot up schools, it's the failure of the system and Parents that are causing these things, and I could go on forever sighting examples of what leads to this, but I won't waste your time. There are no physical activities in most schools, nor group activities, these kids slowly get excluded and drugged, because they exhibit "different" behavior than the other kids. We need to start fixing the problem not blaming any particular item or drug for the crime.Kids need a stable family support system, and most don't have it, you guys know this as well as I do. So please don't punish the shooting community for the failure of our society and Govt. to take care of our young people. Thanks, Sincerely,
