Obama's new site- Tell us your story of gun violence.

OK. We hit polls, we make comments and now we need to hit this site. Many of us have written letters to our representives. The President of the United States has started his OWN site highlighting stories of gun violence. Nothing is mentioned about self defense. http://www.barackobama.com/stories/gun-violence/all/all/3/

Edit. I just left my personal story of self defense. I doubt it makes the cut. I am so mad right now it is hard to stay "High Road."

Remember that self defense with a gun constitutes "gun violence"!

Everyone with a legitimate SD story should respond.

Edit: Well I submitted my story but so far it has not shown up. All the stories I have read so far are either comments in favor of gun control or stories of tragedies caused by a person with a gun.

I suspect that all submissions will be reviewed and any in support to RKBA will be omitted.

Well, I posted stating that it is shameful that our President (A father of two) is dancing in the blood of Men, Women and Children in an effort to forward his antigun politics and that anyone with two brain cells to rub together would realize guns are not the problem. It is sad that our government and healthcare system cannot contain the rising tide of mental illness and that they are putting the weight of this problem on law abiding citizens.

I posted the NRA video link.

Think it will get posted? If so, it will get read as there is only one other post from Maine and she indicated that there should be an AWB but also pointed out that guns are not the problem. PICK ONE.

February 21, 2013, 03:43 PM
I'm going through the pages and it seems like all I'm seeing is the typical anti-gun rhetoric. It's no surprise that in most of the stories, none of the legislation being considered would have helped.

February 21, 2013, 03:54 PM
I just posted mine:

"My wife and I were loading our two young boys into our minivan in an Atlanta parking garage when my wife spotted a rough looking guy coming up behind me. She got my attention and we got everyone locked safely in the minivan. The guy kept pounding on my window yelling at us. I though he was going to break the glass and harm me and/or my family so I got out my handgun, still in its holster, and held it up where he could see it. He immediately put his hands up, said he was sorry, and backed away. If I had not been armed I'm not sure I would be here alive today to tell my story."

OP, when you edited your post you cut the] off of the end and broke the link.

February 21, 2013, 04:55 PM
Was anyone's story actually posted on the site? I've looked through several pages, and see nothing but anti-gun points of view. Many of the "stories" are not stories at all. They are simply people saying they support gun control.

February 21, 2013, 05:04 PM
Maybe the families of the innocent people killed in drone attacks could recount their stories on the site?

February 21, 2013, 05:10 PM
Nothing posted for Nevada yet.
Posted my story referencing the criminal who barracaded himself in his house a block away from us, and shooting at the police. Thankfully, my wife and I were protected by our semi-automatic ak47 with it's standard capacity 30 round magazine.

EDIT: This references our first house out in a low income neighborhood in Sun Valley, known as the Meth Capital of the US at one point.

Of all the nonsense this administration has done this one really is over the top. It is unbelievable that this is so blatantly onesided. It is disgracefull

Maybe Biden should tell his story about shooting off the balcony. Dumb and dumber.

February 21, 2013, 10:01 PM
How about using drones to assassinate American citizens without a trial?

February 22, 2013, 09:32 AM
BluEyes, I was a little skeptical of the submission terms myself, but oh well. I didn't say anything incriminating or awful. And they can take what I wrote and republish it wherever they'd like, for free. :)

February 22, 2013, 09:57 AM
Biden's story of gun violence, would be when he tripped over his shotgun and hit his head on the cofee table.

February 22, 2013, 10:12 AM
Well it has been a day and my story is not posted.
I guess it did not fit their agenda...

February 22, 2013, 10:18 AM
Sure is a lot of anti-gun people posting on there. I told my story FWIW.

February 22, 2013, 10:24 AM
11 stories from FL, all anti-gun. I wonder if they will post my story?

February 22, 2013, 12:46 PM
hahaha I couldnt resist... I just posted this....

"I was horrified one evening I was broken down and my cell phone was dead. I went to the nearest house and stood in the brightest light I could find and knocked on the home owners door hoping to get some help. A gun toting maniac ran out on to the balcony and sent two blasts from a shotgun right into the ground in front of me. I had never been so scared in my life."

Included the Just Ask Joe video....

February 22, 2013, 01:00 PM
Wow, this site is a pretty low blow

February 22, 2013, 01:24 PM
Nothing says we can't publish our own site about self-defense stories.

February 22, 2013, 01:47 PM
My story.
I was in Staten Island. During the Hurricane Sandy blackout, a friend and I went to a convenience store to get some supplies for our parents. He waits in the car (drivers seat) while I buy what we need. As I'm getting back into the car, two young men (maybe 25 years old) approach the car. One pulls out a handgun and slams it on the roof of the car. The other pulls out his, points it through my open window, and directly at my head. Since we were in NYC, we were not allowed to carry firearms. We were completely defenseless. My friend panics and slams on the gas, and we just barely get away. At this point in time, we still couldn't get cell reception, so we could not report it immediately. It was about 1-2 hours before we could get to the local precinct. Sometimes, with stricter gun laws, we are only helping the criminals.
This is actually a true story. literally the absolute worst 30-45 seconds of my life. Thank you, Bloomberg.
EDIT: I know it's not very Highroad-ish, but it would be hilarious if everyone submitted stories like "So one time, I was breaking into a man's house to take his TV..." Like from the criminals point of view. I don't know, I have a strange sense of humor lmao

February 22, 2013, 02:03 PM
Hey, look at that...GunKid got a copy-writing job.

February 22, 2013, 02:04 PM
Guys when I first heard about this I thought this was a very low blow myself and it still is. However, how can anyone take this as truth. What we need to worry about here is, "who is checking the validity of these stories?" Anyone could go on there and make up some BS stories. That is what we need to worry about and so far I have not read any pro gun stories on there which should be a big red flag. This site is nothing more than propaganda that seems to be true, since it is on a website, to the sheeple. This is a real problem. So, what are we going to do about it? The only thing I can think of is that we get a site up that shows real stories about guns being used in a good manner and make sure we validate those stories in some way.

February 22, 2013, 03:05 PM
I want to say that we have a site already. I think I found it on the high road a while back and this person was trying to track defensive gun uses through newspaper articles etc. Maybe someone who knows what I am talking about can remember the site? All we would have to do is promote that site more.

February 22, 2013, 05:30 PM

A thread about it from last week.

I missed that you could post on the Cato site also. Bottom of the page. They are asking for a URL to verify the story. Good luck with that. I went ahead and posted my story there and included a coment that there was no URL because the gun made it a non-event. (My story is posted earlier in this thread)

February 22, 2013, 05:50 PM
Well it has been over 24 hours since I submitted my story and it has not shown up.

Since it took place in Texas but I now live in Alabama I have been checking the list of stories for both states. I have noticed that in the past 24 hours there are no entries from Alabama and just the same entries from Texas now as yesterday.

I suspect that the site was "seeded" with the first entries you see and so far there have been no or very few new stories that were submitted that have been posted. Interesting.

It appears that they are deliberately screening entries to only allow ( so far very few ) stories about someone being the victim of a gun crime or comments in favor of strict gun control laws.

This site is pure hokum! :cuss:

February 22, 2013, 08:44 PM
^^^ exactly. So we need to promote our site on a large scale somehow. Maybe tell the NRA about it and see if they can somehow get the message out.

February 23, 2013, 08:04 AM
I've been banned from a few anti-gun things. They don't want anything that sounds rational or counter productive to their agenda.

February 23, 2013, 09:17 AM
Anti-gunners do not wish to be confronted with facts that run afoul of their agenda. They cannot counter them, so they simply ignore them.

A story in which a person used a gun to defend himself fits that category. You see, the anti-gun agenda ultimately holds that a gun has no role in private hands. To a staunch anti, a dead or raped subj--- er, uh--citizen is more noble and morally superior to a subj--- er, uh--citizen who prevented a rape or a murder with a firearm.

Similarly, while they will never admit this, they'd rather have another Sandy Hook than allow a teacher to practice CCW on the job or even to nix the mythical gun-free zones. Talk about being more noble and morally superior!

February 23, 2013, 10:37 AM
I just left my personal story of self defense. I doubt it makes the cut.

It won't. The whole thing is rigged in my opinion. They want stories of violence to use to promote their gun legislation agenda, not the other way around. Some of you people are still a bit too trusting of the intentions of the government.

February 23, 2013, 11:42 AM
I did the same thing, "told of 3 incidents when my gun saved my Bacon", but let's see if those are the kind they put up.

February 23, 2013, 12:14 PM
Here's what I posted on their site. I doubt that it'll pass their censors but it might! Hint: I was the little kid and it was 1968.

My three friends & I were driving along on a dark back road at about 1 am. We were all drunk. We spotted this nice looking lady driving along & decided to have some fun with her. We weren't going to hurt her much but were going to take turns having our way with her. We were trying to run her off the road when the back window rolls down & this little kid sticks this huge shotgun out the window. He was going to shoot us just because we were going to gang rape his mother. We slammed on the brakes & took off as fast as we could. There should be a law against guns!

So I took my wife shooting for the first time and my mom was against it 100%. She said that there isn't a reason that anybody needs to carry a gun on them. Well about a week later she said you don't know what kind of crazy people are out there. "Well mom, would you want her to have a gun to protect herself and your grandkids when I'm not there to do it?" My mom has come to our side. I've convinced a new Yorker that ccw or open carry is a good thing and there shouldn't be limits on where it can go. Note we just need to get the rest of the state.

One day I was sitting in my home office alone and out of the corner of my eye, I saw a guy go by my window - on the side of my house. I quickly spun my head and saw him dart around the back of my house. He had not seen me yet. I dialed the local police, then reached in my unlocked safe for one of my guns. Just in case I was threatened. Next thing I know there is a loud jamming on the back sliding door (this guy was not trying to be quiet). Then a huge shattering of glass, and as I enter the room in he steps. Finally he sees me and with a rock in his hand, I have him in my sight. He turns and goes back the way he came. Police take the report after arriving 10 minutes later and have never (to my knowledge) caught the guy. My gun saved me from harm.

Reddit---pure awesomeness.

February 23, 2013, 07:34 PM
Just like the "petitions" nonsense, this public-submission stuff is concocted to give the appearance of support for whatever the White House is pushing--a budding Ministry of Propaganda, if you will. Instead of contacting legislators, people post up worthless petitions that can easily (and legally) have the results changed at the whim of the webmasters. Instead of demanding local/national news stations cover self defense shootings and other legitimate uses for firearms, they post stories to a managed site where they will never be seen--except to be counted into the number of tales of gun-violence victims in support of control.

There's no fighting with propaganda; you really should just ignore it, convince others to ignore it as well, and make a note of who is responsible for it for the next election cycle.

February 23, 2013, 08:20 PM

I checked the site again to day just now and still no reports from Alabama. However, there is one new report from Texas.

This is pathetic! The gun control people must be very lazy to not have more reports by now!

Edit: I will not bother with this anymore. Just not important.

February 23, 2013, 08:35 PM
I think every one of us needs to do two things.

1. Write your house rep and demand they impeach Barrack Obama. He has done numerous things for which he is already impeachable--the appointment of Czars for one...

2. Go to that site and post something--anything. Just make it articulate, well written, and LENGTHY. Make sure you lead to reader screening it a bit so they don't discard it, but mention no gun violence outside of self defense. Let's give at least 30,000 or more responses.

February 23, 2013, 11:09 PM
This thing is now on many gun boards. Write a story!

February 23, 2013, 11:31 PM
Hey, Ben Dover just submitted a 3 page story about a stormy night in Virginia. I wonder how many of my tax dollars will be needed to read it.

They won't even let me tell my story unless it's printed on a check. I wonder if they are publishing stories about Ruby Ridge where a mother was killed holding her baby or maybe Waco where a bunch of kids were burned alive?

I wanted to tell how I sat through 2 armed robberies with guns pointed at me and both times I was a prime target for no thing I did. First time a moron ran out the front door of a McDonald's as SIX armed men were holding up the counter in front. Another guy was outside. If they had shot at him they would no doubt have hit me. He sat right behind me not more than 6 inches from me and the door was right beside his booth. The cops called him a hero. I wanted to knock his lights out. The second time I pulled int a crowded gas station back in the days a guy would roam around collecting money. This was on Christmas Eve. I was the only person in the whole, totally full lot that saw a man standing unnaturally close to another man behind him. At first I wondered if they were getting busy right in the parking lot but it was cold as heck and this was before people were out of the closet. Then I noticed the gun in the guy's back (right after I pulled up in the only empty spot by a pump which was right across from those two). The attendant handed him a roll of cash that would have choked a hippo because it was the only gas station open in the entire town. Lucky for me the LEO's had just left on another call even though they were supposed to have that station staked out. I saw they were about to arrest the attendant. Silly me, I couldn't let him go to jail so I spoke up. Then I was the instant suspect in a plot to just steal the station's money with a guy I never met before. I spent all night in that crummy police station answering the same questions over and over. I should have demanded a lawyer but I thought those cops would have a brain somewhere in the room even if they had to look for it. Eventually, after I got ticked at the LEO's, they let me go saying they might be at my house to arrest me the next day. So much for getting involved. But I would have regretted it all my life if I didn't help that poor slob.

My big problem was I didn't have a gun with me either time. It was before concealed carry. It was WAY before it in fact. If I had a gun I would still be in jail today. Now I will have to decide whether to plug some joker with a gun in the back of an attendant (life in danger???) but if the clowns at McD's (not those clowns) wouldn't be so sure I was unarmed now. And I just might not be. I could have returned fire across a crowded fast foot joint. Yeah right. At least I have a "chance" to protect myself and my wife now. She was with me both times BTW. She didn't even see the gun at the gas station. That was pretty iffy I guess with me being the only one out of 50 people in that station lot that saw the robbery go down. I guess I can't blame the LEO's too much but I KNOW I didn't have anything to do with that robbery.

What a pathetic attempt by Obama to sway public opinion.

There are two types of people that are going to visit that site:

Person A who is anti-gun and who sees availability of guns as the problem.

Person B who is pro gun and sees the availability of guns as a means of protection against violent people.

Person A will visit that site already believing guns are evil and create violence thus should be taken away, they see the stories on that site as evidence for their belief.

Person B will visit that site already believing that guns are a means of protection against violence, they will see the stories on that site as support for their belief.

The end result is that site is not going to sway anyone's opinion one way or the other, those who visit that site already know what they believe.

Ahh, surely he'd never censor this site to remove stories he doesn't agree with. Remember how he said Rand Paul and others were wrong to accuse him of using the Newtown victims as props? He said the families have a right to have their stories told, just like everyone else.. Don't you believe him?

I'm temped to summit one as one of the founding fathers telling the story of the British using gun violence to suppress their subjects.

I'm temped to summit one as one of the founding fathers telling the story of the British using gun violence to suppress their subjects.

Please do so, and also post it here. I'd like to read it myself and pass it on to folks that NEED to hear stories like that!

April 24, 2013, 10:56 AM
They aren't posting anyone who doesn't agree with them. It's the typical one sided view that this shameless man presents to the public. It truly is a shame he got into office.
Anyone who doesn't agree with him, gets shut out of the argument, don't waste your time, just concentrate your efforts on making your representatives aware of your position and the consequences of their actions.

April 24, 2013, 11:13 AM
They aren't posting anyone who doesn't agree with them I posted my story about my baby brother being murdered and went into explaining that I don't blame the gun rather the DOJ that failed as the murderer was on probation for shooting up a house.. I couldn't find it...

Rather than getting over his take-the-guns agenda loss ( by his 'own' people no less) he seeks to keep the momentum alive. Credit where it is due--he is the consummate politician; as was hitler.

We need to fear him: he finds new lows and embraces them. Than he locks out the other side: dissent will not be heard nor published...Our work, Freedoms work, gets harder.

If the 2nd Amendment is a Fort...it just repelled a frontal attack.
Now it must be alert to all manors of subtle ( some, perhaps less so) actions.

Voting the bad out is for the long game
Keeping vigilant for -0-'s media manipulations is necessary--
Our strategy to deflect 'the great one's' lies will not work cause we are not
reaching those who are woefully ignorant--and kept so by those in power.

What strategy will work to de-demonize the gun as the liberal forces have taught 3 generations of (hate the term) sheep.

If we can put Personal Responsibility ahead of an Entitlement attitude
perhaps than we can get some truths across to The Sheltered Americans.

April 24, 2013, 01:27 PM
Obama's "organizing for action" IS HIS anti-gun platform.

I won't soil my keyboard, by submitting anything to that POS.

Here is what one of my 'gun violence' stories reads like:
" During the race riots of the '60's, I and my family were traveling cross-sountry by train. Every major city that we traveled through, both in day and night, had National Guardsmen seated on top of the trains with automatic weapons. This was because the rioting blacks were shooting into the trains, as they passed through the cities. We all had to sleep on the floor of the coach cabins, to stay out of the line of sight of the rioters, including not having the lights on, when we had to use the in-coach toilet."

April 24, 2013, 01:43 PM
I haven't bothered to read the site, but has anyone taken into consideration it may not even be taking stories? What's the chance the stories are all made up from the get-go and made to look like they were posted from public input? That's what it sounds to me like, since when many folks write their story, go to look for it, and the stories per state seem to be similar in count to the day they/you posted. Just a thought...

April 24, 2013, 05:21 PM
The ballot box and 2014 mid-terms are the best way to get this opportunist oppressed.

Getting a high profile NRA or other page up with all the stories of how weapons saved victims from horrible crimes would be very good. Has anyone contacted the NRA about its own information yet?

If someone famous who is respected could sponsor such a site, it would be great. Fight fire with fire.
