Assembly passes 21 knee-jerk bills restricting the rights of law abiding citizens.

The most onerous are the ones

Requiring training to get a Firearms Owners Identification card

Requiring renewal of the FOID card every 5 years

No online purchase of ammunition

These are designed only to make it harder for otherwise free people to keep and bear arms.

The state Senate and Chris Christie will have to step up to stop the insanity.

If you are in NJ, PLEASE contact your state representatives and present your position to them.

Actually, after Heller things got a bit smoother and the processing time for a handgun purchase permit went down from 4-6 months to 4-6 weeks.

Move to Eastern PA, perhaps Westchester. Beautiful place! (I KNOW it's not feasible for most, just a thought…)

Magazines going from 15 to 10 will not affect me as I have only bought 10 round magazines.

Curiously, the Bills did not include a more strict ban on "Assault Weapons" dropping the evil features from 2 to 1. This would have been a pain, because it would have required a separate provision to allow grandfathered new Assault Weapons to be registered.

Let's hope he isn't "selected" to be our GOP nominee in the coming years.

He should've stepped up already. The guy claims to be a conservative, but first he kisses Obama's butt and now this rollover on these gun bills. I'm liking him less and less.

Not "fold;" say rather, that he will "show his true colors." This is, after all, the man who just recently said: ‘I’m not much different from Andrew Cuomo. I probably agree with him on 98% of the issues.’ http://blog.timesunion.com/capitol/archives/178838/christie-im-not-much-different-from-andrew-cuomo/

And he has long been a proponent of stricter gun control. http://www.businessinsider.com/chris-christie-gun-control-sandy-hook-school-shooting-2012-12

Yep. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. If you are are a gun owner in New Jersey, you are going to be screwed. There really isn't any room for doubt on this. You are about to have your rights infringed, and there's basically nothing you can do to stop it at this point. It's going to happen. As we said in the army: BOHICA.

The really crummy thing about this is, Christie being a republican, he's going to screw you, and campaigning to get him voted out next election will, in all likelihood, accomplish nothing. The only alternative to him is a democrat, who is almost certain to be as bad or worse on this issue. Thank God I live in Virginia.

Folding implies that he is in some way opposed to this. He's probably leading the gun control charge in the shadows.

Don't all these progressive's argue "we're not going after hunters."

Then what's this?

A-588 Aca

Prohibits possession of ammunition capable of penetrating body armor.

I'm no ballistics expert but last I checked can't most large bore rifle ammo penetrate body armor?

Man! And I though we were getting hosed here in CO!

What level? If it's NIJ Level IV they're considering, that stops pretty much anything short of .50 BMG or certain monolithic solids in powerful dangerous game calibers. If it's Level I, kiss your 9mm and .22 magnum goodbye.

If I remember correctly there is no hunting in NJ with a rifle, only shotguns. Too bad for the residents of NJ that hunt in PA.

If any of the other restrictions would affect a gun owner visiting NJ, please detail them and direct us to the members/government bodies that we can contact and rattle.

Jeez, why not just ban guns altogether and call it a day?

They've created such a legislative monstrosity out there, any semblance of the 2nd amendment is all but gone anyway.

Guns ARE illegal in NJ. We own then due to numerous exceptions.

Do you guys have any ongoing litigation in NJ that's challenging any of the existing bans?

"All our other guns laws don't work, lets pass more!"

A friend of mine lives in NJ. He is working on getting his purchasing license, backlog time is 9 MONTHS. All he wants to start off his collection is a semi-auto M14. Some sort of weird love obsession with that one. Keep trying to persuade him to move so he can enjoy firearms like the rest of America.

Having to acquire a permit is blasphemy in the first place, regardless of wait time.

They'll probably go with "wool sweater" or "high body-mass index" as the armor criteria :D

I guess that rules out everything but 30 Carbine (:D :D :D ;))

What was that old saying; "A right delayed is a right denied?" :scrutiny:

“Generalized fears for personal safety are inadequate, and a need to protect property alone does not suffice [to justify issuing a pistol permit].”
Ladysmith-Black-Mombazo! That's seriously messed up--I can't believe that's considered a rational court decision. Literally stating "we know what's for your own good better than you do" all the while crime continues unabated. I'd get out of there while they still allow you to!

The quote above is in reference to a carry permit (which is impossible to get) and not a pistol permit (which is possible to get).

In short, in NJ you need a permission slip from the chief of police in your town to buy (but not possess) a handgun. The form is also a "voluntary form of register" for said handgun. You may buy one handgun a month. The permits are good for 90 days. They are taking a long time right now. I just got two and it took almost 90 days to get them.

Carry permits are very VERY rare unless you're a retired LEO or a judge or someone else above the law. A woman who is in fear for her life from a deranged ex cannot get a permit in NJ unless there's already a police report on file that he tried to hurt her. "Justifiable need" and all that.

And it's only getting worse. There are bills on the floor that are pushing for things like home inspections and other nonsense. Nonsense that is likely to become reality here in the US.

And to all who say "just move", I submit to you that what flies here is destined for your future as well. This is the front line. Help us fight or don't be surprised when these laws show up in your state.

Don't laugh.
New Jersey knife law is so hard to understand that a Buck folding knife in your pocket might be illegal.
