So I have a Rem 870 with a parkerized barrel with a ramped bead sight on it (as this is an Express model, I assume the bead is pressed/soldered and not screwed in). It's an HD shotty, but the bead just isn't doing it for me - I can barely see the thing. I know there's the option of painting the bead with white/yellow/whatever paint, but I'm wondering what other sight options there are out there.

I'm really interested in this TruGlo TG131SG TFO front sight:

Problem is, I have no idea how it mounts. I've seen mentioned that it mounts with two screws, which makes me believe that the barrel would need to be drilled/tapped to accommodate?

If that's the case, would it be completely janky to fab up a baseplate to bolt it to, and then do something like epoxy/jb weld that to the barrel?

Take a look at the XS Big Dot - http://www.brownells.com/shotgun-parts/sights/front-sights/shotgun-big-dot-tritium-front-sight-prod24532.aspx

It JBWelds on over the factory bead/pedestal base and really stands out - there's one installed on one of the 870s here, and I like it a lot.
