The LC brass is good brass. The ones that have Match stamped on th rim are probably not crimped. Varget is a good powder to load the 308 with and the 165 grs should shoot very well.

Check your loading manuel for the starting charge, then work up from there

Yes, they are good. Yes, they have crimped primers. Yes, you can use Varget and your 165 grain BTSP's.
The brass is likely mil spec and thicker walled, meaning you can't exactly load to max charge as you can in commercial brass. Start with the minimum charge and look for pressure signs. I've seen some of this going around lately, they are likely brass pieces that were once loaded and the bullets pulled and powder dumped. Do you see small disc powder stuck to the case walls inside some of the necks?

Yes, they have crimped primers.

No, they do not have crimped primers. Lake City brass marked 'Match', 'NM', or 'LR' do not have crimped primers.

18 bucks a hundred for 1960's brass. Where you get it, sign me up!!!!!!! And its match!!!! Ohhh my that's reloaders gold right there.

Perfectly fine to reload in cases that also have a NATO numbering such as 7.62x51(308) its always better to find those cases because they can handle more pressure. Lake City is one of the best makers of brass.

My fiend you got a steal, unless they are all dinged and dented in the thorats and necks. Which you didn't mention that so you got great buy there.

Have fun loading and shooting.

LC match brass is very good stuff! I have some from the 60's that will rival Lapua in consistency. I would start at the suggested starting load in your favorite book and work up. I would expect the max load to top out a little less than the chart in the book because your LC brass is thicker. I see no reason not to load it in your Savage, and the components that you listed are all very common choices. Good Score on the brass, Lightman
