Have a Ruger 454...would like to install a scope...what brand & model have you had the best luck with?

Leupold TWO power. Shooting offhand with a 4X is a PITA, 2X is twice as good as opens plus some. It is plenty of magnification on a big bore for everything but serious accuracy testing.

I have used the same Leupold 2X on 3 different 44 mags and feel it is an excellent revolver scope. The 4X Leupold has a fairly narrow field of view and is far more expensive than the 2X Leupold.

Have used a 4X Burris on a Contender and have no difficulties in off hand shooting and price is around $60 -$70 less than the 4X Leupold.

Since the Ruger SuperRedhawk comes with rings....is it difficult to install the scope? Did you folks bore sight or will a smith bore sight for you?

Piece of cake to install it. To boresight just use a small mirror, center an object out about 50 yards in the bore, then adjust the scope to about 1" over the spot. Shoot it at 15 yards, adjustments should be small before it is right on. Then move out to 25, 50 and 100.

Notice that the recommendations are all for Burris and Leupold - Over the years, these two firms have had the best, most consistant reputations for honoring their warrantys. As for magnification, whatever you eventually wind up with, start with 2X if you haven't used long eye relief scopes. Or get a bipod :D
