A couple of knives I picked up from my friend Mike McRae of Scotia Metalwork: (http://www.scotiametalwork.com/index.html)

These are a ballock dagger in 5160 and African Blackwood (top) and a sgian dubh of 5160 with stabilized elmwood burl handle and brass guard. Both hand forged and diferentially hardened.

I have a few of Michael's pieces.

He recently made an African Black Wood sgian dubh for me.

He's quite the skilled bladesmith and an interesting character.

Lots of ivory in his handles. I wouldn't buy one and expect to be able to get it into this country.

Nice knives though.

Considering he's in North Carolina I doubt you'd have any trouble.;)

BTW, only new elephant ivory is banned for importation. There is a remarkable quantity of vintage elephant ivory available and plenty of other species as well as mastodon.
