What's going on here?
Using power pistol.
It's a new drop and spilling all over the bench.

Did you clean off the preservative from powder measure and rotor?
The preservative is oily and powder will stick to it. After cleaning, lubricate a little with a dry lube and let the carrier flash off before using.

Either the red housing or the rotor is machined wrong. Call Hornady tomorrow and they'll send you new parts.
DON'T email them, call.

The housing has been machined too deeply as indicated by the green arrow--I suspect it's as much a 1/4" too deep. It's allowing the powder entrance/exit hole to be exposed on the fill stroke, as indicated by the red oval.

Either the body of the powder measure is machined wrong like rfwobbly noted or something is wrong with the drum. There is obviously a gap between the drum and the body. You should NOT be able to see the hole in the drum like that.
Third option, maybe a longshot, but are you using the rifle drum? It looks like you're using the rifle drum based on the how big the hole looks. And I think its possible to put the metering assembly in backwards. Maybe that can cause the hole to be exposed when it should be. Dump the powder, undo the linkage, and remove the metering assembly, then rotate the drum 180 while its in the body and see it the metering insert will go back in. I could be way off on this though.

Even if you use a rifle drum and pistol insert it won't expose the hole.

Yeah, going by the updated photos the powder measure body was obviously machined wrong. Someone in their QC must have been having a very rough day to let that one slip by.

Send those pictures to Hornady customer service and they will have parts to you in a couple of days. Their CS is beyond excellent! Calling them will save you about a day over emailing them.

Just as I expected. There are a lot of good CS shops in this industry in general, however, Hornady, in my opinion, is peerless in that regard.
Glad you're on your way to being fixed. One of the reasons I have no reservations about any of the many reloading and related products I have purchased over the years.

Calling a powder measure a 'drop' (or 'throw') is enough to make any of them puke. :banghead:

Glad Hornady took care of things and you will probably have a new one in 3 or 4 days. They are great with there service.

While you are waiting around, order one of these http://powderfunnels.com/, and get a quick change powder die for every caliber for which you reload as well.
